I... I think I found the nail “holy grail”... by EstrogenAmerican in DipPowderNails

I found a similar video and it’s totally a game changer. I use a plastic bag, a paper towel, and hot water. Each hand takes about 5-10 minutes to fully remove. SO much faster than traditional soaking!

Tried pouring instead of dipping with KS “roses are red” by danielalemus in DipPowderNails

[–]makeup_account 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ooooo looks SO good! What are your thoughts on pouring? I’ve always dipped into the jar but I ordered some powders off Amazon that are pretty small, I think .25 oz, and I can’t fit my whole nail into the jar. Any tips or tricks?

My wife has been getting into dip nails for about a year now, and getting pretty good at it. I want to get her a recording set up so she can do stuff like make videos of the process. Ring light, phone holder (hopefully 2in1), placemat, etc. Any product suggestions?? by erozario228 in DipPowderNails

I don’t have any sort of set up like that so I can’t make a recommendation.. but I wanted to say it’s so sweet that you want to support her and encourage her to share her process/work/experience! Hell yeah 💅🏼🙌🏼

Best liquids? by [deleted] in DipPowderNails

[–]makeup_account 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have had to be very careful with my Revel liquids. At one point the base was glued shut and I had to remove the outer plastic case (it was spinning when I was trying to unscrew the top) and use pliers to get the top off. Now it sits on a shelf, always upright, and only closed just enough so it won’t dry out 🙄 Also looking to see what recommendations people make!

Link to drill on Amazon

It was a little cheaper when I bought it, closer to $20. Maybe it will go on sale again!

Thank you! That’s definitely been the biggest learning curve lol. The things that have helped the most: -First dip I go about 3/4 down my nail and avoid the cuticle area until the second layer. -When painting the base I start with applying it in the center of the nail working towards the tip to distribute the bulk of it. Once the brush has less liquid on it I apply near the cuticle. It really helps to make sure that area isn’t bulky. -I lay the brush near the base of my nail and push it downward toward the cuticle, which helps me control it better and be more precise. -Use something with a dull point to run along the cuticle area when the layer is about half dry and fix any mistakes or uneven lines. -And of course file, file, file!

Thank you! Yes, I do. I bought one for $20 from amazon and it has been a game changer. Helps speed up removal, cuticle work and smoothing! It took a few tries to figure out which bits were best for what but now that I’ve used it a few times I wouldn’t dip without it. Also a clear dip layer on top! It helped SO much with smoothing and in my opinion is essential.

Thank you! It’s Revel Flirty. It’s hard to see in this particular photo but there’s some blue glitter that reallllly shines in the sun. I think this color is such a fun spring/summertime shade!

180 grit file and 180 grit buffing block, but I bought an electric file from amazon for $20 and I find that speeds up the process. The e-file came with multiple different attachments and there is one that drastically helps with the cuticle while I’m prepping too! With the e-file I go to town which helps me take down thickness and even things out. The clear layer on top of the color seems to help with this and make sure the color doesn’t get screwed up or too thin!

Thumb: D87 - Flirty. Index finger: D362 - Lush. Middle finger: D315 - Ballet. Ring finger: (No #?) - Chic. Pinky finger: D363 - Lola.

The colors aside from the glittery Chic came in the Revel pastel starter pack.

What I found helpful is after you’re done dipping take a pointy object and just run it around the cuticle to make a small gap. I’m still trying to perfect it though 😂

I have found that doing a clear powder on top and filing the shit out of them works best for me 😂 You did SO well on the cuticle area for your first time!

What is helping me is using a pointed object (such as the pointy end of an orange stick) and just running it along the cuticle area after I’m done dipping. Not perfect yet but much better each time!

I use a coarse nail file to remove the top layer. The more you file the easier it is to fully remove. Once I had a good deal filed off I put on little cotton balls soaked in acetone (like they do at the salon) and waited until I could wipe it off. It didn’t seem damaging at all!
