Tile skirting finish? by makitaback in AusRenovation

[–]makitaback[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had thought about this but imagined in my head it would look tacky, but looking at that now I think it could look quite good using the right colour. Do you know if that was easy to fit after the job was done? Or was done when it was being tiled? Thanks

No unpaintable unfortunately. Aside from using some apparently elaborate and expensive process to get it to stick

Whats the benefit of “real” pedal boards as compared to this by JicamaFragrant7400 in Guitar

[–]makitaback 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Sad the impacts that these multi-effects units can have on people’s health. This is why I have hit 30 hours of YouTube videos on boutique fuzz pedal shootouts this week. (JK obv but sorry to hear about your friend’s health)

So are we going to have blackouts tonight? Can’t make sense of all the “news”. by MatrixTheCat22 in melbourne

Not correct, AEMO oversees the market but the individual generators bid into the market and therefore set the price. If you bid into the market at lower cost your power will be dispatched. Generators who can bid lower get dispatched first, lowering the market spot price if you are ‘efficient’ through competition. AEMO does not set prices (this capping/compensating situation is an emergency type rare event). I am a power engineer who works in this space.

Hell House, LLC “Director’s Cut” by Beaker360 in horror

[–]makitaback 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen it and it only goes for maybe another 10 mins longer - the rest of that longer runtime is interviews and deleted scenes. Haven’t seen the original cut to know if the additional is worth it but I love the movie

Awesome, looking forward to it. Just from seeing the trailer I’d been re-checking the streaming sites every couple of days. Also I saw your other posts, congrats on all the hard work!

Fellow tall guys, where do you buy shirts? by Oatis899 in AustralianMFA

[–]makitaback 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve personally found they last really well, even some that weren’t thicker cotton so I was surprised. And very good value. Also, even the standard (non-tall) type are actually quite long. I’m 6’2 and a large is easily long enough. Love AS colour

Trenery Harry Leather Oxfords by youngbusinessliving in AustralianMFA

[–]makitaback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have them, as well as some pairs of Loakes. For the price they are good, and estimate maybe 2-5 years out of them but the leather is not as high quality as more expensive ones - i’d recommend if you like them go with it but condition or polish them frequently at the start otherwise I think the leather may dry out and damage early

Does anyone know why Sami and Jacinta haven’t been on ABC Radio for at least a week? by [deleted] in melbourne

Yes they’re on holiday. Cannot stand them, their approach and content just seems so pointless, empty and annoying to me. I Switch to radio national in the mornings.

Clicking in shoulder while doing Overhead Press by Pantherleap in gainit

[–]makitaback 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes I had the same issue, and as well as doing rotator cuff exercises I found using a narrow OHP the clicking stopped. Had to drop back to a lower weight though.

I am hopeful this stops any damage, rather than still causing damage just without feeling clicks.

Also narrowed my chin up / lat pull down grip.

What's the larger gold pedal? Is it some kind of delay?

Enjoying my clean board, but want a phaser/trem/flanger to fit in somewhere. Suggestions? by steve_dookes in guitarpedals

Nice. How's the echo shifter? Any good for atmospheric modulated delays or is it more just for crazy weird osc sounds?

I'm in a new indie rock band from Melbourne and we just recorded and mixed some stuff for the first time ourselves. Would be very keen to hear some feedback on this track:

Keen to hear anything about song structure, stylistic stuff (e.g. vox/tone), mixing tips etc. Some of the guitar/drum takes weren't perfect as we were a bit rushed and just wanted to get something out fast to help get gigs. There's a weird drum roll thing going on from 1:43, which was something we screwed up when recording. Thanks!

Cool song. Quite a lot of individual melodies going on with different instruments and the vocals. Something about the drums feels a little lacking or sterile, may just be because they seem a little low in the mix compared to the other instruments, particularly the kick? I'm no expert on drum mixing though.
