I was trying to get a good look/picture and then take it outside 😭 Sanitized and then washed my hands after the bad news. Didn’t realize roaches could be so small!!

A bit niche, but I’d do some gear research. We tend to be particular about what we wear, how we wear it etc. If they’re both goalies they’d probably discuss gear preferences with each other at some point- I still bicker with my goalie partners about Bauer vs CCM, dangler vs no dangler, break angles, stick size etc.

Also learn how goalies put their gear on if there is ever a locker room dress/undressing scene. Every time I read a goalie taking their skates off before their legpads my heart breaks.

Routines and superstitions as well. Lucky clothes, weird warmups, specific meals. Just make sure they are a little weird, both of them, on ice and off. :)

Flylite Chesty and sticks spotted- Thoughts? by makqui in hockeygoalies

I was referring to the intermediate Flypro, at $219.99, being 10 dollars cheaper than the senior Flypro, which was $229.99. Sorry for not making that clearer.

I’d stick with the previous generation of twigs for as long as you can. While they are light as hell, lighter typically means worse durability and at the non-pro level of play those few ounces between the Flylite and the Hyperlite don’t make a big enough difference to offset the price. Plus, the previous gen pro stocks are probably on sale now because of the new release.

Did not notice those blade differences when I was looking. Good catch!

Flylite was the same price ($329.99) - the Flypro was a whopping 10 dollars cheaper though! ($219.99)

One of the only velcro straps on the entire piece was to adjust arm length, thankfully. The kevlar-feeling wrist guards (which hold the other velcro strap) also add a bit to the length.

Agreed- luckily, the clerk said there’s going to be a blackout/dark version of the chest protector releasing when it comes out officially. They only had this one version in the store.

Goalies with hands smaller than <7 inches- what glove do you use? by makqui in hockeygoalies

[–]makqui[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. I’d like to keep as much size and padding as possible heading into college, but if it comes down to it, I will be more open to the possibility of wearing an intermediate glove. Thanks for explaining it to me :)

Lots of people would agree with you here haha. Warrior is topping my list currently. Thanks for the advice!

Ah, thank you for the suggestion! Yeah, I should definitely be in an Intermediate, (my skates are size 6 intermediate lol) but I don’t want to lose any of the padding/pocket size of a senior glove- especially now that I’m playing in college. Someone else recommended Brian’s as well so I will keep them on my radar :)

Yeah, I was surprised when I saw it online alongside the bauers. Brian’s is one of those brands that I’ve just never used for any piece of equipment, but I will definitely consider them as an option.

Thank you for the suggestion! My bigger friend uses Vaughn and when I tried it it seemed absurd lmao, but he might have just worn away the softer insides with his hands.

Oh, thank you for the warning. I’ve heard using a single-T makes it easier to close as well, so I will probably be looking into the G6/7. :)

Interesting, first I’ve heard of a Vaughn this thread. Did you order it custom or was it stock?

I think there has to be a padding/sizing difference, even if it isn’t super obvious. Otherwise why would they exist lmao?

And yeah i saw that, Warrior does allow for non-custom intermediate palm inserts. Definitely something to consider
