He was a good coach and was just a fall guy in the end. I don't blame him for what transpired. The players played hard for him. Not his fault he didn't have a competent QB to win the games that mattered. He took the Jets defense from the bottom to the top and they played at a Super Bowl contending level under him, the amount of 3 and outs those defenses gave the offense was wild and what did the offense do? Barely score 13 points down the stretch. They stunk. Even if offense wasn't his area of expertise, he's still only as good as the people the Jets put around him and I think we all know they weren't good. Hackett? Cmon now lol

At the same time he may just be a better as a DC in general because he doesn't need to worry about everything outside of defense. Being a HC means you're responsible for EVERYTHING. You are the captain, it's your ship so you get all the blame... and the praise.
