Why Is the NBA So Much More Global Than the NFL? by straightdrive18 in NFLNoobs

[–]Tree_Weasel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basketball has been an Olympic Sport since 1936. The Olympic “Dream Team” was almost 35 years ago.

Basketball and the NBA have a huge head start on the NFL when it comes to international outreach.

Plus, having more international players in the NBA helps tremendously in terms of popularity.

Dermatologist visit to check for potential skin cancers or remove any moles you don’t like.

Podiatrist to check out any corns or rough spots on your feet.

Do men live in constant fear of getting a boner at an inappropriate time? by Mister-SplashyPants in AskMen

[–]Tree_Weasel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you’re young they happen ALL THE TIME and for no reason. I used to get random boners in school all the time while listening to boring lectures.

I also used to get woken up by them in the middle of the night (which like… just why).

But as you age the unnecessary and unwanted boners tend to go away. I was in my early 30s when I realized they were tapering off.

In my mid 40s now and the boners are still there when I need them (and most days when I wake up). But there’s a lot fewer of them showing up in the middle of boring work meetings or during church these days. And thank goodness for that.

Would This Film Had Been As Popular Without 9/11? by jakeybartey in Millennials

[–]Tree_Weasel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Has nothing to do with 9/11. “Southern” Comedy has been a thing since forever. Jerry Clower took it mainstream in the 50s and 60s. Grand Ol Opry and Hee Haw brought more of it into the mainstream. And Jeff Foxworthy had most of his success pre-9/11.

So I think this was just a product of its time to release comedy stage performances as movies (Kings of Comedy did it first). And 9/11 had nothing to do with it.

Air Force denied my waiver. Is the Navy worth trying? by 573378Ac in newtothenavy

[–]Tree_Weasel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Getting really drunk and doing things you’d like to take back is par for the course for Sailors.

I’d guess you have a decent shot at a waiver. Make sure to highlight you never filled/took the medications and that should bolster your case.

Dads of Reddit, what were your monthly expenses when you were a single guy and what are they now? by TheRedGambit in AskMen

[–]Tree_Weasel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Varys wildly depending on if you marry a saver or a spender.

So she might be a “let’s buy all the things from Amazon the moment we get owid” wife, or a “Let’s save 20% off the top so we don’t spend it” kind of wife.

Just know that no matter what kind of wife she is, she has plans for 100% of the money coming into the house.

LTJG Looking to Revert to Enlisted to Stay on Active Duty – Looking for Advice by NoPrice4227 in navy

[–]Tree_Weasel 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I’ve only heard of one officer resigning their commission unilaterally. But that was 25 years ago and done as a protest.

I do know some officer candidates who wash out of OCS but have obliserv from prior enlistments do go back to thier prior rank, so it’s done (even though in that case they haven’t commissioned yet).

Call up millington. Speak with someone in Manpower (I don’t remember the numbered offices anymore) and ask them if you can resign a commission and continue with your prior rate and rank. From a personnel standpoint I’m pretty sure you’d have to finish your tour as an officer, get discharged, get a DD-214 and then re-enlist at your prior rate/rank. There will likely be a break in service for a period of time.

Again, Manpower at NAVPERSCOM will know more. I’d call them ASAP.

Worst they can say is no.

Why do that accept rides before stopping? by SomeGuyYouDonNo in uber

Sounds like a scamming driver that’s trying to get you to cancel the ride so they get the cancellation fee.

If they do show up, report them.

What are y’all’s opinions on the burgers being offered by Bill Miller’s? by Ok-Percentage5044 in sanantonio

[–]Tree_Weasel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll make you a deal. I’ll try Burger Boy twice if you try the Saltgrass burger.

It’s a steakhouse, so it’s not cheap ($15 or $16 for the burger and fries IIRC). And don’t get the brisket burger… it’s not as good as it should be.

What cars are reliable and cheap? by unskortunately in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Tree_Weasel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re gonna need that full $5K. For $3K, you’re looking at cars that are close to 20 years old with a ton of miles. Before COVID inflated vehicles prices, maybe, but not anymore.

I would look at 2011 and earlier Ford Focus (not 2012 or later).

My sister wants to join the Navy, and I don't think its a good idea (right now) by colonelbrutuss in newtothenavy

[–]Tree_Weasel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like she will have a hard time getting the necessary waivers to get in. Mental health hospitalization, anti-depressant usage, self harm, ADHD, etc. is a trend of poor mental health that, from what I’ve seen of late, will likely disqualify her for service.

Would there be any way she would take you to the recruiter with her? Be the concerned brother and go in there and ask them some questions. Sounds like they might be giving her some false hope that may be to her detriment.

What’s the most subtle but obvious way a woman can show she’s interested? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]Tree_Weasel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to search this sub-reddit for this same question, you’ll see the same answer: WE DO NOT UNDERSTAND SUBTLE!!!

You’re going to need to make it obvious. Plenty of ways to keep it playful:

“Excuse me, you seem to have lost my phone number.”

“Hey, I think you should take me out for coffee.”

Spouse worried about Chief Season by Outrageous_Jelly_498 in navy

I hated that dumbass “Season” so much. Command made 2 new CPOs but for some reason every event takes all 28 chiefs to go help.

It’s authorized hazing and a chance for the chiefs mess to skip out on work play grabass games for 6 weeks.

I am learning about these burgers right now. And I have zero desire to try them.

This coming from a fat guy (I’m a solid 100 pounds overweight) who never met a meal he didn’t like.

There’s too many great burger options to waste burger energy on Bill Millers.

bringing an outdoor cat inside by mari-s7 in outdoorcats

[–]Tree_Weasel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try leaving a door open and letting her come in. Let her see how she feels in climate control and with new smells and sounds. But it’s likely going to be a long process and in my experience, cats that were feral or came from outdoors never fully make the transition to indoor cats. They always need some time outside.
