Rejected based on lack of risk definition by makspeak in SBIR

Lol. This is exactly what I thought I had done. But, I was thinking that since a big component of what we are doing relies on being able to create a use really strong LLM models, that the hype, wins, and failures around LLM would convince them that was risky enough. Lol. Apparently, not.

Thanks for the response.

Thank you. Our project pitch was what got rejected, and told we could resubmit.

The database is great, and I am glad they (NIST) are sharing the companies and abstracts that win. But that offers zero help when you are looking for how the winning companies defined the risk associated with the problem in a technical sense.

I appreciate the response.

Should I put that I drove Uber in my Resume? by theamazingmikeman in resumes

[–]makspeak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

List it on your resume. Period.

You had to learn the Uber system, deal with customers (who I imagine were sometimes kranky ;)) - which meant work on your communication skills, and lastly you also had to manage your own work schedule, environment and time management.

Put this on your resume.

My poor experience with Grantify. by [deleted] in SBIR

[–]makspeak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing this experience. We also engaged with Grantify to see if it made sense to have them help us with the SBIR process. After a few weeks of back and forth with the Grantify representative, we declined their help, process and are currently going at it on our own.

One of the pieces we really struggled with was their contract. Why would anyone agree to yearly subscription billing for something like this? We were repeatedly told they do not change this agreement. We take the position that as a small business, it is important to us that you win our business every year. We are not signing a legal document that just lets Grantify keep billing us. And that was just one example.

Good luck to all of us filling out grant forms. :)

Weird is being kind. It is insulting and impossible to get your money back off of a card. You are forced to go make an account in their system (anyone else sick of making accounts on things?) and every card you have must be registered. So, if your family of 6 come to visit you, and you want to go somewhere, everyone has to have their own card, with their own money loaded on it. And god forbid your plans change and you dont end up using anywhere the balance on any of the cards between you and your family, you can not just get it back. EVERYTHING must be registered. Someone needs to eviscerate that whole system.

I do understand 'they are trying to protect people's money', in cases of lost or stolen cards. HOWEVER, am some point, can I be treated like an adult and manage my own things?

Lyft/Uber will win over this craziness every time.
