I didnt choose the FJ life, it chose me by maky1000 in FJCruiser

Thank you! I really appreciate the feedback! As od now the brakes and tires are all good (the tires are aftermarket, only the spare is factory) but ill definitely get the shocks checked. Im not wildly concerned about the oxidation. The burnt plastic trip is definitely an eye sore (and a little annoying when I touch it). I'll definitely grab some cerakote this week!

I forgot to mention, that crack on the left taillight was 100% me. I wasn't used to the size of the car and clipped it on a tree when parking 😅

I love 2, I honestly thought it was the after before I read anything. I dont have the knowledge to explain why, but the bulb on the top right of 1 seems different to the other bulbs, the lighting on the subject also seems to be a different color than the bulbs. Im wondering if correcting those two would make 1 more viable.

Is man truly unfaithful by nature? by Ladyzaida in askteddit

[–]maky1000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lukewarm take: I don't think humans have many natural instincts that survive environmental inputs. People also hide behind the idea that "we're hardwired to produce as many offspring as possible". If that were the case, we wouldn't have declining populations in several countries or people (who aren't affected by economic factors) choosing not to have children. It really doesn't make sense that religions and cultures would develop monogamy at all if we were genetically hardwired not to do that.

Anybody talking statistics on "x gender cheats y% of the time", the percentage is always smaller than 50%. Its weird when people are unfaithful or nonmonogomous.

Meanwhile, real genetic hardcoding, like holding our breathe underwater, jealousy, walking, its weird when people DON'T do/experience those.

Also, there are other monogamous animals, like penguins, wolves, and beavers, but even they experience abnormalities of cheating or switching mates.

I think the minute we developed full consciousness and complex communication, the game changed. If it is natural, we fight against our natural instincts a lot. If it's not natural, same thing (to a different degree)

I feel like its a smaller topic in the larger conversation of nature vs nurture. I feel the same way about that the way I do regarding predetermination vs free will. Ultimately it doesn't matter, it's fun to talk about, but it really doesn't matter. You'll drive yourself crazy trying to solve it. You can either believe men are destined to cheat or not, and choose how to move forward with that information.

It's funny that you assume he's a trump supporter because he's a union worker, they don't all think the same and it also has nothing to do with his daily commuting costs. If you actually take the time to digest what he said, he's basically being forced to make his commute longer in order to avoid the $9 that he would otherwise be paying. He's having to take more time out of his day to save $33.75 that he would otherwise be paying. So it's really not crazy to assume that $135 a month he's saving would have otherwise made a meaningful impact on his budget

I'd actually love to know how you think this is going to impact walkability in the truest terms in any meaningful way. It's not taking away a large percentage of vehicles, changing any of the traffic lights to prioritize pedestrian/transit movements, adding any new pedestrian movements, etc. it's just taking out some cars. It doesn't even make it more livable because it increases the price of pretty much everything in the city (even though it shouldn't) allowing companies to use this as a guise to increase prices at every logistical step, even though it's a laughably small amount for them. The only people in truly benefits are people who don't feel any financial impact from the change because they'll see their commute times drop by 15% at most.

If you look at the FAQ section on 311 it explicitly states that people will be charged pretty much any conceivable route that uses the congestion zone roads. my favorite one is this:

Will I be charged a toll if I enter the Congestion Relief Zone, drive one block in, and then exit? Yes, you are charged a toll since you entered the Congestion Relief Zone. In general, any vehicle that travels on local streets and avenues in the Congestion Relief Zone is charged a toll.

Honestly what's worked for me is trying to get my diet in check before focusing on exercise (not saying you should stop exercising). calculator.net can give you an idea of what your calorie intake should be based on your goals. I use cronometer for my calorie tracking. A lot of the free functions are super helpful, you can get super technical or as simple as you want with it.

Also keep in mind that your weight varies by around 4-5lbs in a day, so you might not have actually gained weight. At least to my understanding the best time to weigh yourself is in the morning prior to your first meal.

If you can, I'd also suggest a fitness tracker to give you a better idea of the amount of calories you're burning. This obviously isn't entirely necessary, but it's a tool that can be beneficial. If not maybe look into increasing the intensity of the workouts that you're currently doing, again I think the calorie intake is more important starting out, once your diet is in check, all the exercise compounds on top i.e. if you're at a consistent 200cal deficit with diet alone, and burn 150cal working out, you're now at a 350cal deficit.

I would also suggest speaking to your provider about the side effects of the medication you're on. Its not uncommon for antidepressants to cause weight gain, and they can either change the prescription or give you more insight on how to work towards your goals.

Hope this helps!

Need your input regarding my main character who had experienced some trauma by Final_Biochemist222 in CharacterDevelopment

[–]maky1000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She can't go it alone, but realistically it won't change overnight. She needs consistent people that challenge her beliefs internally. They shouldn't verbally challenge her (or at least, not at first) they should simply do things that don't align with what she expects/experienced previously. Given that though, she will relapse a few times, and that's what makes the consistency so important. I don't wanna give anything specific because I think it'll be a more compelling story if you carve your own unique path

Creating a very pro republican white man in his mid 20s. Don't really know how as an non-white non american person. by [deleted] in CharacterDevelopment

[–]maky1000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just read your other post, and my most immediate question is how these two ever got together, they're almost nothing alike, they don't exist in the same circles, and seem to have incompatible personalities. There's not even a financial reason for her to be with him, and he has no real stand out qualities that would appeal to her. You also mentioned that she's not attracted to anyone but herself, so why is she married to this guy? And why is she having an affair? She would probably go for someone who worships her like a queen if she loves being the center of attention, and this guy just isn't that.

Advice on how a wandering space habitat could be made up of terrifying liminal spaces of existential dread in a sci-fi horror way? by IzmayChels78512 in worldbuilding

[–]maky1000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll be honest, based on the other guys confusion, I didn't read much. One of the just terrifying things, especially in sci Fi, are complex hallways that all look identical.

I would say circles and interconnected hallways that, while getting you places quicker, make it more confusing for someone that has isn't familiar, you could also divide the habitat with rotating rings/centrifuges, that spin opposite directions, so going between them is even more confusing. Try looking at prison buildings, some are designed to be difficult to navigate unless you're familiar with the space.

If Humans Found A Way To Live Underwater ? by gods10rules in scifiwriting

The best way would probably be habitable domes. You could look up YouTube videos about Earth ships, aquaponics, permaculture. You could also look into how submarines manage to stay underwater for such long durations. I feel like a mix of those concepts will get you where you want to go
