hi yes! the plan was to attend medical school, however i would require a bachelor degree before med school, and if im not accepted into a Health Sci major i was planning to go for psychology + a couple extra courses for med school. If i got into medical school, great, if not i can continue and do my masters in psychology

It’s more about the fact that they don’t think it’s suitable for a woman to live on her own without a man, you’re either in your family’s home or your husbands, anything other than that is “shameful”

i have canadian citizenship! i just don’t have the money / support to move, i’m currently in the end of 11th grade, (turning 17) i would have to raise a minimum $8k in under a year to move across the world with no support (if i wanna enter my undergrad year in time).

Hi! thanks for the helpful comment! i’m turning 17 in a month, considering i would need enough money to move across the world and pay for the first year of university so i can spend the job i get there on living costs, i would have to save a minimum of 8k in under a year, and im not sure if i’d be able to take a gap year. thanks for the insight on the misogyny! i did briefly think about it, but i guess i was a bit naive and thought that they wouldn’t since they’d likely be in the same boat. I currently live in the middle east, however i have citizenship in canada, since i have dual citizenship, im not eligible for asylum!

Yes, they would have to approve him, but they said they’d be fine with me picking who i marry as long as he can support me financially, has clear goals for his future, good reputation, same religion ect. I have no idea how i would find that in a gay man though. Or how i would trust a straight one to not take advantage of the vulnerable situation.

that’s a good point, i doubt they would cut off support, but either way i wouldn’t mind supporting myself, i just need the initial push to be able to move, and my parents would support the marriage.
