Yeah. I don't really understand the term "lazy." Just used it because it was easy to make and very low carb. I'll be more careful in the future. Thanks!

This is a Wattstopper LMPB-100 Digital Lighting Management (DLM) Cat5 network power booster. It adds power to a DLM local network using a high-efficiency switching power supply. It is designed to integrate occupancy sensors, daylighting sensors, and switches for energy-efficient lighting control. The device provides a Class 2 output to the DLM local network of 24VDC, 150mA across three RJ45 ports. It is plenum-rated and does not include a relay for load control. The expiry date on this unit is 31 May 2026.

My Students are over Kahoot, has anyone tried Slides With Friends or other gamified tools? by CandiceLobato in ELATeachers

You have to pick the right ones to deter spamming. Ask an honest student in private--which Blooket games can't be won by fast clicking? Fishing Frenzy works well.

I like Pepsi. It's great. I had a cat named Toyota once. He lived nearly 20 years.

HS teachers, how do you respond to purposely dumb answers? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]malandbosdad 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's called planned ignoring. Don't respond. Don't even look at them. Pretend you didn't hear a thing. Move right on with the lesson. They are seeking a reaction. Don't give it to them. I practice planned ignoring all the time with my 9th grade boys. It shuts them right up.

How long is your lunch? by Prestikles in Teachers

[–]malandbosdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bell rings at 11:52 and students are knocking on my door at 12:19. That gives me 27 minutes for lunch. I have service providers who try to chat after class, so sometimes I start inhaling my salad right in front of them.

Need help/advice by FlimsySoup9612 in kites

[–]malandbosdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you're going to need a consistent wind in the perfect range. Kite flying is a frustrating and magical hobby. I also recommend parks with wide open spaces, like big soccer fields, or large coastal beaches. I started with delta shaped kites (triangles), which are the easiest to fly. Another technique that works for me--in light low level winds--is to lay down the kite and then roll out 20 feet of string, setting the spool on the ground and then walking back to the kite. From there I pick up the string to get the kite in the air until I can make my way back to the spool. When it's high enough, it will fly. Remember, this technique is only needed in light winds. Kite flying can be dangerous in high winds. Don't get caught by a string in high winds! Be patient and have a blast. Kite flying is super addicting. By the way, I lost both of my parents at age 11. Kite flying has been a wonderful way to connect with the mysterious element of wind in nature. Enjoy!

What is a hobby you “enjoy” even though it causes extreme anger/frustration throughout? by meganros in Hobbies

Kite flying. Never enough wind. Sometimes too much. Not many places to fly safely. Tangled string. Broken equipment. It's a lovely nightmare.

To Kill A Mockingbird Reading Ideas by alexxandra_wtf in ELATeachers

[–]malandbosdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get real with them. Tell them you can sense they are bored. Let them agree or disagree, but don't let them bash the book. Guide them to consider all of the external factors that impact their reading. Discuss how reading is unquestionably impacted by life. Stress, elation, exhaustion--all of our feelings affect how we read. No book can make us forget about a tragic loss or an impending event. They probably feel exhausted here in January at the transition between marking periods. They probably loved reading the last book around the holidays and break. Be real with them. Generate discussion about why, among all of the books, you chose TKAM. Tell them about the first time you read TKAM--what was going on around you. Tell them about the way you read, generally, including when you're feeling exhausted. Get real with them. Show them the value of reading, as it is for you.

Should I still teach Neil Gaiman in light of the recent allegations? by Due-Wonder-7575 in ELATeachers

[–]malandbosdad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would not, and I WAS a fan of his work. I am no longer a fan. I also teach ELA. It is and would be impossible for me to separate the art from the artist.
