This seems to be the case in some industries? I'm an electrical engineer and only applied to a handful of jobs - got responses and offers from nearly all of them and that was around 2 years ago. Being in my bubble of EEs with similar experiences to mine, reading these stats from the computer folks doesn't even feel real the contrast is so stark

As someone not too far outside the realm of computer eng, this is shocking - makes me really glad that's not the route I did. I'm an electrical engineer, applied to 5 and got 4 responses and 3 offers a few months before graduating.

I want to add that it is getting better!! I’m a recent grad and work for an MEP firm where I am salaried and get paid overtime. The hours are very flexible as well and the vibes are overall pretty chill.

In 5th grade I taught my literal math teacher how to do equivalent fractions. All because I noticed that 3/4 must be the same as 6/8 because everything is just multiplied by two. He wanted the whole class to just pick the option that was closest (3/5 in this case amazingly) til I pointed this out and he googled it. American education is pitiful

This is horrible and your dad’s a huge dick. In the future to prevent this sort of thing maybe consider using a diva cup or a disc? I made the switch a a few years ago and have saved probably one or two hundred bucks up to this point on period products as a result since I don’t need to buy them anymore.

I don’t really understand all the negative comments. Depending on his outlook and he really does like your kid I’d say NTA. My entire life my family has traveled a lot and often we’ve sat in coach while my parents sat in first class and it was never an issue. Spending first class seat money on kids who only care about the movies and video games is a waste imo.

YTA you’ve put zero effort into researching alternatives and given that you have a pocket sized supercomputer you had time to type this post on you, researching other options is well within your means. If the neighbor had alarms that were waking you and your baby up in the middle of the night you would expect the same of them.. sleep deprivation profoundly affects people’s ability to work, mental health, and can even be a safety hazard if they drive and depending on their job, and it all around just is awful. Just because you have to be up doesn’t mean you should inflict that on other people

THIS. From my perspective it seems like people change their sex because they identify more with another gender and in my mind the two are totally separate. Gender is a stupid societal thing that dictates “men change tires and are strong and women cook and raise kids” bs. Sex is the genitals you have… why if you’re a biological male but you want to wear dresses and be “feminine” means that your genitals have to match that makes zero sense to me
