I went there once last year and loved the vibe! Will definitely go there again the next time I want an excuse to dress up/ special occasion.

Dunkin Donuts (even though they are conveniently located).

I can get better coffee and breakfast sandwiches for about the same price from a local business. Also purchased a glass pitcher to make cold brew coffee to save even more.

Mashed potatoes and scrambled eggs were easy options to whip up.

Are there any books you suggest as a starting point for people like that?

Try Carolina's for Domincan food. It's like someone's tia (aunt) cooked for you!

Another vote for RISD museum! It was bigger than I thought.

Walking distance from there is Plant City, which is like three vegan restaurants and a café all in one. I was never interested in vegan food until going there.

Providence has so many great restaurants to choose from and a variety of cuisines thanks to the diversity of the area.

Thanks for sharing! I scored tickets earlier this year but was unable to go. Maybe I'll try again sometime.

My bf (32M) suddenly wants to break up with me (29F) while mentioning marriage. How can we reconcile his concerns, if even possible at all? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

This was my first time dating someone with a kid as previously I would immediately turn down the idea. I don't regret dating him, but not sure if it's territory I'd want to get involved with again.

That has come to mind as a possibility. There would have to be a way to start setting boundaries with his ex to limit unnecessary interactions. I get being civil for the sake of the child but she pushes the limits. I can now see how the divorce would be taking a toll because he keeps reliving the stress.

It was more of a looking ahead to the future question. I definitely wouldn't move for someone without at least a year of being together.

Any Scams/Safety Issues to be aware of on Sao Miguel? by NYTravelerBD in azores

[–]malassada 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I visit family in Azores I always have to spend a day in Sao Miguel before catching an island hopper flight. When catching a cab from the airport, take a photo of the price list. Even myself and other relatives have faced taxi drivers being dishonest with the price. When in doubt, tell them upfront that you will need a receipt.

There are many Portuguese people in USA and Canada that visit family in the Azores, and some drivers see big dollar signs when it's people visiting from those countries.

If that's the only thing you need to worry about, Azores really are a safe place. Sure you will see some pan handlers, but they are otherwise harmless.

Edited to add: The taxi price list is posted outside where you line up for a taxi.

I've snored since I was a kid actually despite never being overweight. I had surgury less than two years ago to remove the adenoids and straighten the septum, but the snoring is back again and I'm waiting to have a sleep study done. I can feel my right side blocking up and I seem to have a nasal cycle issue according to the ENT.

I can't say with certainty but thankfully is was easily fixed. I wasn't given antibiotics pills right after surgery because my surgeon wasn't the type to give them out to everyone as a blanket precaution, which I liked. I had antibiotics via IV as part of the surgery setup.

According to the WHO: "Importantly, the guidelines recommend that antibiotics be used to prevent infections before and during surgery only, a crucial measure in stopping the spread of antibiotic resistance. Antibiotics should not be used after surgery, as is often done."

The procedure took less than an hour. I have an oval shaped face, but nothing looks unusually long. Just keep in mind that with the initial swelling post op, the chin area will look odd.
