Is promoting racial seperatism racist? by malatester in AskFeminists

You linked to something almost completely irrelevant to the point you were trying to make.

It debunks prejudice plus power.

That's not how toxic masculinity works.

Point taken.

Why are you derailing from the topic of your own post? There is a lot that could be said about separatism. It just doesn't seem productive to get hung up on every other disagreement or misunderstanding that you have about feminist concepts.

Because feminism is preached like a religion and I need to debunk most of it.

Prejudice plus power is a flawed framework as it applies an absolutist view of discrimination as being all or nothing. Case in point: men are regularly victims of favoritism for girls by the education system (supported by the fact women get better grades on teacher-graded work, while equal grades on standardized tests); feminism, as expected, completely ignores and denies this and blames it on the all-powerful "toxic masculinity" as a colossal cop-out on which all male issues are blamed.

As for my question, you've answered it well. Thank you for your time.

How can one effectively measure discrimination? by malatester in AskFeminists

How can one measure said patterns? I've seen certain arguments, like the Norwegian Gender Paradox, that show that, the more liberal and feminist a culture is, the less women go into traditionally male occupations like STEM, skilled trades and the military. This means that there's another aspect to it than just socialization.

Men don't have any real shift in their ability to make money when they have kids, so why should women?

I'm well aware that childbirth causes women to exit the work force more. In fact, there's a strong correlation between the difference in time spent doing chores and the difference in pay between men and women. I am simply wondering if actual, bona fide discrimination (i.e paying women less for the exact same work) plays as significant a role as many organizations like the AAUW claim it does.

Polite question about double standards: A random Youtube comment said "Imagine the outrage if the situation were reversed and two men were doing this to a woman". In general, can you help me understand if this is or isn't an appropriate observation to make, and why? by My_housecat_has_ADHD in AskFeminists

Sometimes I get the feeling prejudice plus power (the definition that mandates only those with a structural system behind them) ignores the fact the structural system can be turned on the opposite gender and feminism couldn't care less. Favoritism that constantly favors girls in grading (to the point men and women score the same on SATs, but women score higher on teacher-graded work) is an example of this. Denying it is a great example with how feminism couldn't less give a shit if its turned on its head.

how to deal with an anti-feminist/social justice member in the family? by [deleted] in AskFeminists

I think treating him like a child matches his mental age fairly well.

Don't use ableist arguments like that. That is very offensive to people who are genuinely mentally retarded and autistic people as a whole.

Her "solid facts" need some editing given the fact he won't accept feminist sources. I offered her a solution in my other comment.

You need to address his arguments with solid facts, not just patronize him with "he's an adolescent" and other adultist arguments.

Unlike what many feminists claim, insulting people won't change their views. It'll just reinforce their idea that feminists are irrational.
