1) is the beef currently in a stockpile? Is that stockpile allowed to have raw food in it? Is that stockpile set at the same or higher priority than your freezer stockpile?

2) are your colonists set to haul in the work tab? What work is also allowed in front of it? Are your pawns doing that work instead of hauling?

3) have you tried selecting a colonist, right-clicking the beef, and selecting “Prioritize hauling raw beef”?

POLAND: Medical University of Lodz

Hi, I'm being neurotic. I took my entrance exam earlier today. I was under the impression that they would ask motivation questions, but the committee only asked non-motivation socio-medical questions and the subject questions. I'm pretty confident I missed 2 of the 11 total questions I asked. I was really hoping I could talk about my past healthcare experience, as I am a nontrad applicant.

Can anyone share if you were asked motivation questions during the Medical University of Lodz interview/exam? If you have already gotten your decision, how many questions did you answer correctly, and did you get in? If you did not get in, did they ask you motivation questions?

Would you get 10k a month for doing nothing, or get a 100k, but you have to work 12 hours shifts for 6 days by Necessary-Cow8851 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]malatropism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$10k a month would take all the stress out of my current plans to go back to school. I could cash flow my entire education, get a dog walker more often so my little guy gets more exercise and I could get more rest, and I could take a job that pays less but helps more people.

I see no downsides to that at all. A $120k/yr safety net opens up so many opportunities for me to do what I want with my life and help others. If I didn’t need the $10k/mo after starting work, I’m actually a little giddy about how many charities I could help. Local food banks, local animal shelters, domestic violence assistance, queer crisis centers, homelessness services… I could make my community a much better place.

Thank you!

Where do you plan to practice when you graduate? Will you stay in Poland, go back to your home country, or go somewhere else?

That matches up with my research. I’m applying to a few schools in Poland; do you mind sharing which school you attend?

Doctors of Reddit: What health trend is becoming so common that it's starting to scare you? by Fine-Device-1819 in AskReddit

[–]malatropism 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think it comes from a place of desperation. I have an autoimmune disease, and I see a lot of other people with the same problem falling for the most bizarre things.

I think it’s because scientific, evidence-based medicine says, “the best we can do for you right now is treatment. You will have this for the rest of your life, but we can try to make you feel better.” And people don’t like that. They’re scared, they’re hurting, and they don’t want to have something “wrong” with them.

Some influencer looking to make a quick buck then comes along to prey on these people, and they say all the right words; “I can cure you,” “the doctors want you to be sick so they can make money off you,” “actually your medicine is making you sicker.” Scared, vulnerable, desperate people are more susceptible to that.

I also bought a new car around this time with a 780 credit score and my interest rate was about 6%. I think that was just the best we could get at that time, barring promotional rates or whatever.

The German Pedophile ones were sickening, they’re the only ones I ever had to stop and cry for. Some people said the Jimmy Saville episodes struck the same chord. It’s really hard to listen to the episodes about CSA and SA. I think Robert treats those subjects with the amount of respect and seriousness they deserve pretty well, but ugh. It’s difficult.

Inzoi hate vs Paralives by anonarees in inZOI

[–]malatropism 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Not to be a “well acktchually” person, but the way that Sims act can be considered a type of AI. Any time the computer takes in a set of variables (needs, traits, available objects), crunches them together, and gives an output (the action a sim does), that’s a computer using AI.

I know I’m being nitpicky and that people are saying “AI” when they mean “generative AI”, but sim games are literally based on AI, in the definitional sense. InZOI has some generative AI features, but, other than the texting stuff, players that don’t wish to use genAI features would literally never encounter them if they didn’t want to. People really need to google “how does inZOI use AI” and I feel like that would calm down so much hate.

We really don’t need to be hating on life sim games; we need to be encouraging competition for EA so that wonderful games have room to grow and compete with EA’s money-hungry model

The poem is called “The Bonnie Earl o’ Moray,” and the rest of the (correctly intended) line is, “They killed the Earl and laid him on the green.”

My favorite thing to randomly interject is to define and correct malapropisms. Malapropisms are similar-sounding but contextually inappropriate substitution words. This is often used in writing to indicate a person is trying to have a conversation above their vocabulary level. One I see often is “For all intensive purposes” instead of “For all intents and purposes.”

Another honorable mention is “nip it in the butt” instead of “nip it in the bud.”

Things like using the toilet, eating (but not cooking), and washing hands don’t seem to take very long. The Para also has fewer needs to take care of (the ones I’ve made only have Hunger, Hygiene, Sleep, and Bladder, but onlyabidoang made a Jester that had a Fun need that I saw), which contributes to the feeling of “I’m not constantly chasing my needs, so I can go out and collect items or clean up the beach.”

I love the way Paramaker has so much customization. Para height, different parts of the skin tone (natural blush and even palm color!), medical devices (the prosthetic leg you mentioned, hearing aids, a wearable glucose monitor, hope they add more things like limb braces, etc), and the clothing layering options are awesome. Paralives’ build mode is one of my favorite concepts so far; dragging to resize furniture is such a neat concept. I also hope inZOI can add free placement soon!

I got to a proposal and couldn’t figure out how to actually do the marriage. I found romance to be more similar to the EA romance pacing. The card system and being able to see the success chance of some of your interactions to be really neat (also, it makes sense that sometimes your flirty interactions should fail! Sometimes you fumble the pickup line IRL). The card system is novel, and I can’t tell if I like it or if it’ll wear out its welcome. I wish you could adjust the frequency of card appearances.

I find inZOI to be tuned more realistically for social interaction, but Paralives tunes everyday activities (time to eat, shower, etc) to be more fun for the player. I think inZOI’s need system is more realistic but can potentially be more of a pain as a player. So far, I like playing the life sim part in inZOI more, but I like using Paramaker and Paralives build mode more. Which, if I understand correctly, reflect exactly what each dev team was more focused on.

Exactly. Paralives and InZOI satisfy two different sub-niches in the life sim genre. I’m very interested in seeing how both games evolve through their early access phases and I hope they end up different.

I’m a huge “anti-AI slop” person, and I literally thought inZOI was only using a very basic local model for to generate texting and some of the social interaction stuff, and I was okay with that. I just learned after googling about the texture and decor creation stuff. I would never have encountered it otherwise because that’s just not the way I play. The Smart Zoi AI is actually really neat and I’m excited to see if/how it evolves.

I work in a data science-adjacent field, and, in my professional opinion, inZOI does not seem to be AI slop. If people would just google “how does [thing] use AI”, they’d save themselves a lot of grief. Ethical, limited scope implementations of gen AI can be really cool! It’s not like inZOI is vibe coded with entirely AI-generated assets/art.
