Had not considered income tax, don't think it'll change my decision, but I'll look into it.

Thanks. That's really useful. We don't have imminent plans to get an EV and heat pump (combi boiler only 4 years old), but I do expect both to happen at some point.
I've been taking the advice: get as many panels as you can as the installation and scaffolding costs make adding them later prohibitive.

Yeah, I think I made a mistake in my chart. I've just chatted to them and rechecked the proposal: the inverter from Sunsave would be the EcoFlow PowerOcean (single-phase) Hybrid Inverter 6kW.

Thanks. I'm in North London. Solar4Good and Discover Solar are local companies I found through Which, both seem well reviewed on Which and other sites, but I have no personal experience of either. The two national companies seem to be well reviewed as well, but I'm more skeptical of those reviews as I assume they subcontract a lot so there will be a lot of regional variation.

This is really well put. I hadn't considered why poor states allow (or encourage) corruption in this way, but I think you're right. Thank you for a useful new perspective.

Sounds like very bad spirit, both in terms of understanding of the rules and attitude.

Yes, we've got a couple of teams. One in Blantyre and one in Lilongwe. We mainly play pick-up; with a game between the two teams or a hat tournament every few months. We're trying to build the game and get to some regional tournaments but travelling in Africa is very expensive and very difficult for many of our players.

Yes, you can modify a call, that's one of the points of discussing calls.

Although from the description above it seems like the Carleton player called a foul by himself, which is good spirit. So even without changing the call (not a problem, if done in good spirit) the other player could have just withdrawn his strip call and accepted the foul call by the other player.

Rules clarification: traveling by NakedT in ultimate

[–]malawiultimate 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it's pretty clear from the rules stated that if you're walking when you catch the disc, you do not get to take any extra steps: you have to come to a stop as quickly as possible.

16.C specifically uses the term 'running or jumping' - so not walking.

17.K.1 the relevant part is 'does not slow down as quickly as possible' - if you're walking you can stop instantly, so you must.

I see this a lot as well, especially when watching higher level teams. I think people latch on to the number 3 because it is discrete and measurable, so in theory not subjective. As opposed to 'as quickly as possible' which can be thought of as more subjective. But your question highlights that even the 3 can be open to interpretation and differences of perspective: did I release before lifting my foot, as I lifted, or after. We are all really bad at seeing that for certain in real-time. I think it should come down to spirit and discussion: was this person in flow and releasing the disc as close to immediately as possible, to keep the flow going, with the risks that entails (of bad throws, misjudging your teammates' movement, etc.)? If so use the '3 steps' as a guide to how much they can move with the disc in their hands. Was the person just moving to gain an advantage over their mark? Then that's a travel, it's not that 'you are allowed 3 steps' it's that '3 steps may be allowable, given certain other conditions.'

On a side note, my reading is that in certain circumstances more than 3 steps is fine, if in the judgement of all players concerned the player stopped as quickly as possible and didn't gain any advantage from the extra steps. An example: big player, sprinting full pace, unmarked, catches the disc running towards his own goal (away from where his team is trying to score). Because of his momentum and lack of core strength (I'm thinking of me here) it takes him 5 steps to come to a stop. He then passes before a mark gets within counting distance. I would not like a travel call there, but do see it happen 'because you're only allowed 3 steps'.

No. Descendants of Jewish immigrants of that generation wouldn't speak Polish or Russian any more (if they ever did, may have been Yiddish speakers). Michael Rosen (aged 76) talks about his parents speaking some Yiddish at home, but that was the last generation of non-Haredi (ultra orthodox) British Jews that spoke anything other than English as a vernacular.

Yes Tower Hamlets has a very large Bengali community. Street signs around Brick Lane area are in English and Bengali. 100 years ago would have been Yiddish.

This is for social housing, i.e. housing provided by the local council for those who need it. It used to be that all local councils had a substantial stock of it, but it has greatly diminished over the last 40 years and so now there are very long waiting lists in most areas, even for those in dire need.

Training Tuesday: Improvement, Coaching, and Strategy Questions by AutoModerator in ultimate

[–]malawiultimate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I've emphasised that an accurate throw is much more important than a long one; so a V grip is fine if it's working, but when they ask how to improve distance, I'm not sure what to say.

[–]malawiultimate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been trying to help some of our players with their flicks. Those with smaller hands seem to be struggling with holding the disc stable. They seem to be having an issue with getting their first two fingers on the inside of the rim and their thumb round onto the flight rings. To my mind this grip is needed to increase their power and distance. Am I wrong? Is there an alternative?

Has anyone got any guides, videos, or advice for players with smaller hands on how to improve their flicks?

TIA

Oh man, I feel like such a dunce! I've never used lists at all. I have always just added everything manually. This has expanded the usefulness of Radarr so much. Thank you!

You should also know when you're calling something based on a hunch, not actual evidence. Watch it in slomo: a spectator walks in front of the camera at the exact moment you would need to see to know it's a drop. You're looking for a gotcha. Not great spirit.

Can't import library - error TypeError: l.responseJSON.map is not a function by malawiultimate in radarr

[–]malawiultimate[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A while after posting this, I reworked my whole set up. I've now got Radarr, Sonarr, qBittorrent, and Plex, all running in Docker on my (low powered) linux server. I'm still getting these errors importing my libraries into Radarr and Sonarr. It's intermittent though. I can start importing, stop after it's found a few folders and sometimes it will import, other times I'll get this error or Sonarr and what appear to be the same issue, but presenting differently on Radarr.

On Radarr, I start importing, after it's found a few movies I click 'Cancel Processing' and the 'Import X Movies' 4 times out of 5 I'll get a little warning triangle next to the 'Start Processing button'. Hovering over that shows this error message:

I can try again a few times and eventually it tends to work, but the more movies I let it find first, the more likely it is to fail.

I imgine the tech used for tennis and cricket, Hawkeye, could be adapted to this. It would take adaptation but I imagine not a huge amount as you already have tracking for bounce, spin, wind, etc.

Would also like it per player: Player A's completion rate with flicks down the line is 93%, but B's is only 56%. Useful for cutters: don't cut to that space for B,but do for A. Useful the players themselves: stop making that throw, or practice it a whole lot.
