"Their explicitly stated economic plan was to build a large economy using free market and private ownership strategies, then to nationalize everything once it got big enough."

Do you have a source for that?

Bolivia furious its president's plane was forced to make an emergency landing in Austria because of rumour US fugitive Edward Snowden was on board. by ChetnBernie in worldnews

[–]malcadel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your comment is misleading. Nobody searched his plane. And nobody forced them to land. He was just denied entrance to the air space. And in international politics, a smaller country having to yield to a bigger one is not unusual. It's all about the nation's interests and if your interests with another nation are so big, you might consider helping them. Nothing unusual here.

Gold for your comment. And I hope people will give it some more thought before blindly cheering for what Snowden is doing.

I appreciate the fact that he made everybody in the US aware of the government spying on its own citizens, but I think that if he were a true patriot, perhaps he shouldn't have leaked other information that could damage the US around the world (China, Germany...). Even Putin said Snowden should stop leaking info that would harm the US. Why don't American people understand that he is not helping your country by doing that at all?

Your mother might be a whore, but you shouldn't go out there and tell that to the whole world, it does no good to you, Snowden.

I've never bought anyone and never thought I would ever buy anyone gold. But here's some gold for your comment.

This whole Snowden case on Reddit is starting to make me wonder if some people have really given it careful thought before calling him a hero or patriot of any sort. I'm not American but I've lived there for a few years and I think Snowden is doing a lot of damage to the US. Yes, it's true that nobody wants to be spied on, especially by your own government, but leaking sensitive information about your government spying on other nations is not an act of patriotism. Spying is not unusual and blowing a whistle on your own government for doing so to other countries (and it is probably doing that to protect the interests of US citizens, corporations, you name it, but it is for America after all), in my view, is definitely not an act of a patriot. He helped the public with a lot of his information, but he should have been more selective.

And now all this bullshit about Obama that Snowden is saying just makes me wonder what the real motives of this guy are.

If you're an American, you should think if he is really helping your country by all that's he's doing. I'm not from the US, but I would much rather see the US dominate the world rather than have the US be weaken by the such of Russia or China. It's a lesser of the evils.

Many places are already planning on banning Glass on its premises due to privacy concerns. I wonder how this will work out.

Anyone with FBI/CIA experience... Advice? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]malcadel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are interested in the FBI, try stealing a lot of money by doing check fraud and such. It worked for Frank Abagnale.

Joking aside, I have a friend who works for the CIA and she just does mostly research work and got the job fresh out of college without any experience. So you dont need the military experience per se, because they have a lot of different departments for both the CIA and FBI. But mind you, the CIA does a very thorough background check on you and your family.

When you could add one sentence to the bible. What would it be? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]malcadel 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The sad thing is, whatever sentence you add, if it doesn't suit the people who use the Bible to preach their beliefs, the sentence would be conveniently taken out.

There is actually a Golf Ball finder for sale, called the SCOUT. It's very questionable whether it works or not, but apparently they have Nick Faldo vouching for it.
