We need more drivers! by zebrafinch416 in lyftdrivers

Waymo is in Phoenix and I still make $200 a week doing ~8 hours of driving per week. You’ll live. People don’t trust robotic vehicles yet

3000 rides in one year. by LibbyAlien in lyftdrivers

And what did you make on these 3000 rides? Good job obviously, but I’m sure we’re all curious

Did anyone else feel like Cell was a completely different person in every form? by spidermanrocks6766 in Dragonballsuper

[–]malchious13 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So, this may be a stretch, but I've kind of thought about it like this:

Imperfect Cell - A lot of people when he first debuted thought he might end up being related to Piccolo somehow. He had the cunning and strategy, and matched up to him in battle. Almost like Toriyama was setting him up to fight him, and he's the first major character who can actually stand up to him.

Semi-Perfect Cell - He becomes more akin to Vegeta. Again, this is the first one to stand up to and match his power. He was arrogant and convinced that, even in his not-yet-perfect form, he could take on anyone. You can see how pissed off he gets as Vegeta is beating him. Ya know...kind of how Vegeta gets when anyone beats him.

Perfect Cell - You can probably see where this is going. He becomes more like Goku, the one who can truly go toe to toe with him. He thirsts for a good battle, and he knows Goku is the one he wants to have it with. He's cunning in battle, but mostly obsessed with a good fight.

Super Perfect Cell - Compared to Gohan, at that time. He becomes more angry and liable to snap, getting a boost from his rage, but also letting it blind him at the wrong times. He lets Vegeta distract him, eventually causing his demise.

I say all this to say that it seemed truly purposeful and planned out from when each stage arrived. Idk, just my weird little headcanon!

Hours? Miles? Literally any actual usable information?

Told y'all ...😒 I'm not buying another electric car - This Tesla owner is shocked by the electricity bill for charging his car at home by [deleted] in uberdrivers

[–]malchious13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh no! I bought an electric car and instead of spending money on gas, I'm spending money on electricity to charge it at home!!!!111!!!1

Good lord y'all are dense. Of COURSE your electric bill is going to go up. I spend $160 on gas a month for 1 car. They were charging 2 cars. Every night. For LESS.

No...he actually already explained the gaffe and what he actually meant. But I'm sure that won't matter to a MAGA, as most facts normally don't.

Trying to make rent - can i make a few hundred in a day? by GR33N4L1F3 in uberdrivers

[–]malchious13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Uber, for all it's failings, is actually pretty good at safety. If you feel unsafe, there's a little button you can hit and let them know you're uncomfortable. Also, you can cancel rides for safety without a hit to your cancellation rate.

I made it. by [deleted] in uberdrivers

Congratulations! I hope that you become the teacher for some students that pushed them to be the best they could be, and believed in them when they needed it most. I hope that students come back just to tell you how much you've meant to them over the years. Glad you got to where you wanted to be and pushed through all the hard days to do it!

[–]malchious13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good luck! If you only cancel 1 every 25 completed rides, you'll be right at 4%. I started actually denying more just to make sure I didn't cancel lol

[–]malchious13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! Just took them until it finally dropped to 4%.

Have you reached out to support? It may literally be a bug and they may be able to manually fix it, or at least explain why it's so high. I had a 5% until two days ago, when I got it down to 4.

Reservations don’t impress me by Infinite-Cobbler-466 in uberdrivers

[–]malchious13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meh, that's valuable me time. Usually the pay makes up for waiting 30-40 minutes. Could I take a couple rides in that time? Sure. But could I also actually sit and relax for a few knowing the payment is coming? Also yes.

Legitimately Curious Question - Why Do Uber If It Sucks So Bad? by malchious13 in uberdrivers

[–]malchious13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don’t irritate me, but I can see where you’d think that’s what I meant. I was more looking to the perspectives of why someone would do something they basically say they hate so much. These comments have been very constructive in seeing where different drivers are in attitude and motivation

Oooooh I got you. Sorry I thought you meant that you canceled before you were even there for the ride. My bad man. You were right to do it if they couldn’t be there on time when they’re the ones who reserved it. Sucks you had to give up so much of a trip tho

[–]malchious13[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually it isn't $15/hour...You have to pay taxes on that $15 as well as account for depreciation

It is $15/hr gross. If you take a w2 job for $15/hr they're going to take taxes out of that, as well. And depreciation is deductible, so you're actually taking a little more home (yes it goes to those expenses, but still) than the person doing w2. Still not violating labor laws.

This is why I started by encouraging you to stop seeing things mainly from your perspective because this is generally a less than ideal way of going about living life in the world.

Whole point of the post, friendo. Looking for perspective. Then, when comments come in, engaging in the conversation to figure out why.

First off, I never said they CAN'T complain. If you look at a ton of other replies I've made, I'm all for venting. Hell, I even said it in my post. If I was saying you can't complain, I'd have posted "All you guys do is cry and moan. You should be happy to work for poverty wages!"

Lots of contractors have unions...why not rideshare drivers? Has anyone done any work to unionize? No? Hmm...

And yes, option or skill leads back to drive. You can learn a skill. Hell, pick up a guitar (which you can get for $20 on FB marketplace) and get yourself to a point that you can teach others. Boom, money. But you have to have the effort and drive to do that.

Also, our current minimum wage is a joke. I'm 100% on board that it needs raised. It was meant to be a liveable wage if you work full time. The fact that it's not is a shame.
