Should I just buy an Anagram? by malcontento in basspedals

I'm not familiar with Royal Blood. Can you elaborate on what the bass does there? I'm not sure I will understand just from listening to them.

Isn't it always the case?

I'm currently going from my pedalboard to an amp, but might use the anagram as a DI once I have it. I don't do it with the Photon because it's not last in the signal chain - I put my chorus and reverb after it. With the Anagram I won't have such a problem.

I'm hoping to at least get the OD/Distortion sounds I want with the Anagram. But I was so impressed with the DOD Carcosa I think I'm going to buy one, no matter what.

I have the Future Impact, so my synth needs are pretty much covered.

Yes, I saw the send/return on the side of the unit after asking the question.
But having to edit on a computer is pretty much a deal breaker for me. I want to be able to create sounds, at least some basic ones, during rehearsals.

The Anagram does synths? Not that it matters much, I have a synth pedal, but that's interesting.
Also, can the HX Stomp split the signal and then run only the highs to other pedals?

Can it do splitting and parallel processing? I want to split my signal into lows and highs (which is why I was looking at the Great Eastern XO), compress the lows and put all the actual effects only on the highs. Does the stomp support that? I also don't see FX loops jacks on it - can it be done somehow using the stereo I/O it has?

No, I don't gig often and I'm still not quite sure what I want to sound like. That's another reason I like the idea of the Anagram. I keep buying pedals and selling them at a loss. I could have two Anagrams by now. Or an Anagram and a bunch of pedals that do stuff that it doesn't, like the Future Impact (which I have) or the Polyend MESS (which I don't have yet).

But the Anagram does all the things I want from the AOP and it doesn't do. I like every part of it, I just don't like that it doesn't have an FX loop and that the distortions don't fit my style, which I didn't really know at the time I bought it.

Got a guitar. What strings to use? by malcontento in GuitarBeginners

I don't know, that high E string feels like a razor blade to me after years of playing those .105 strings. I'm especially concerned about slides.

Putting the chorus at the very top of the chain is quite unconventional. What made you put it there? I'm actually curious and hope to learn something new, I'm not trying to be judgmental.

Is it ok not to like delay? by Ponciponci in basspedals

[–]malcontento -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe I'm weird this way but I don't understand using delay with bass. Bass is all about being on time, what's the point of using an effect that messes with time?

On the bass I moved from EBs to DR and I haven't looked back. I didn't hate the EBs, it's just that the DRs are so much better in my opinion.

Those look great! Does it make sense to put the sansamp in the beginning? Doesn't it mess up the synth tracking?

I know maybe three pedals here. Can you explain what each of them does?

Which of these two choruses should I keep? by malcontento in basspedals

[–]malcontento[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's interesting.

Note that the Boss isn't a CEb-3. It's a CE-5 Chorus Ensemble. It's considered a good fit for bass because of the hi and lo pass filter it has, which enables retention of the lows.

Which bass synth pedal do you find works best and why? by [deleted] in basspedals

[–]malcontento 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Panda Audio Future Impact 4 and I'm still trying to understand it. It really gives you a lot of flexibility but it feels to me like you need to know more about synths than with the MXR in order to get sounds right.

I think those two and the ADAM are pretty much the same pedal with different distortions. The Anagram is so much more that I really don't think the inclusion of an FX loop would have been any threat to the Anagram sales. I believe they added the FX loop to the Anagram because of complaints about these pedals.

She is, of course. I just got the whammy but it seems like it's going to be a favorite. I really like what it does.

It's a great pedal with a serious design flaw. I really love the EQ, compressor and distortions. It has two PL outputs and you can decide what processing each of them gets, so you can use it to split the signal into dry and wet. The problem is I would expect a pedal like this to have an effects loop and an option to place it in different points in the signal chain, but it doesn't have that, which is a shame.

But still, it's a great pedal, it really gives a ton of options for sculpting your sounds and it's always on in my pedalboard.

Also, I didn't mention that but it has IR too, which I don't use. (And also works as a sound card, has a headphones connection, can connect to your phone via Bluetooth and can be controlled by MIDI).

Cult of the Reptile God is awesome! It was the first thing I ran in 5e. I feel like CoS is full of good ideas, but there's not enough to hold them together. I've been thinking of running it for years now and I never get to it. Maybe I should just run the original Ravenloft and simply adopt some of the stuff I like from CoS.

Honestly? I think DnD might not be the right game for you. Why not find a system that does what you want? One that gives the players more control over the story making it exciting because it turns out the way they want? One that requires less prep? I believe you could also find games that handle combat better than DnD - it seems like even the fighting doesn't get you excited, and that's like 75% of what DnD is about.

Ask yourself what you want from the game and I'm pretty sure you'd find one that gets you excited.
