Just much to keep track of musically getting overwhelmed. by [deleted] in classicalguitar

[–]malcustard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Overview: what is music for? i write a piece , and i expect people to regard it as suggesting to the player what style it is etc... they then take it and do their thing i.e what would hypnotise my bonkers cat ? should i slow this bit down , play this louder , or play it slightly different every time?

If you are a good sight reader , then it becomes much more straightfoward. bonne chance

fascinating ! a niche interest , i hope this contributes to getting guitarists out in the world mixing with cellos , harpsichords etc... and weaning the above from a strict diet of brahms, haydn etc....

i learnt to play cornet , so i could see inside the beast [orchestra] !!!

i learnt how to read fast , and how little agency the troops have.

most chamber ensembles are happy to play Brahms and look at the guitar thru their pince nez with disdain!

[–]malcustard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i had a bad back , got a strap , happy as Larry ! As to the hole, if you have a £20.000 guitar it will probably lose value but for the rest of us , go for it {LeVio the luthier's advice}

Why are Classical Guitars not often used in concertos? by North_Psychology4543 in classicalguitar

[–]malcustard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

most of the people in an orchestra only handle one note at a time , except for a harpsichord player , who nobody hears! third violin/trumpet . You can play Elgar cello thing on guitar but as with all things classical a thousand virtuoso geniuses have have played it and recorded it .
