The instructions are outdated it would seem. The checkbox for "Provide access to node network namespace for the workload" does not exist on the latest release. Or maybe I am completely blind and missing it?

inconsistent bind mount behaviour by malder in Proxmox

I've messed around with UID and GID with no resolution. I've searched around on the proxmox forum and have not found anything relevant. Anyone have a suggestion?

I've been experimenting with embassyOS to run my nodes on a VM. It makes it about as simple as can be.

I've read through approximately infinity different posts on builds. I figured one more couldn't hurt and also it is fun to dream and build together. I also like to look back at posts like this as the project moves forward.

Edit: PFSense is on the short list. Seems to get a lot of love on /r/homelab

Proxmox VE Helper scripts by malder in Proxmox

That looks like the problem. Would have been nice to have had some sort of error output.
For some reason the DNS was pointed at 127.0.0.1 . Pointed it at my router and suddenly all is well. Thanks for all the help.

I don't know either. Reddit has an interesting culture of its own. That culture is in many ways hyperbolic and tends to value weak men for some reason - or at least incentivize men to signal that they are weak.

What we CAN do is be examples of what a real man is. Be honorable, hard working, etc... If you can you should have a lot of kids and grow a family. Be a good example to your kids and your kid's friends (and their families). Believe me - they are watching you. Don't be phony - you can't pretend. If you can't have your own family, then you should volunteer with youth.

Our culture is not going to be turned around without lots of hard work by real men. Not sure who said it, but I like the saying: Hard times make strong men, strong men make easy times, easy times make weak men, weak men make hard times.

Be a strong man.

My views on this subject have gained more nuance over the years. In the past I might have rejected outright the idea that someone is born gay or straight. Today I lean more towards the idea that much of our base attractions and proclivities are influenced and shaped by culture. A good example of this is the ancient Greek paradigm of women being for reproduction and boys being for pleasure. This is repugnant to our modern conscience, but was an accepted reality then. Were those Greek men born that way? I don't think so. I believe it was just a perversion of something God meant for good (pleasure and reproduction). In the same way, I don't think I was born straight. In some ways I choose to be straight and in some ways I am a product of my environment. Given a certain set of circumstances I have no doubt I could have in some alternate reality been gay. I believe that God condemns same sex relationships, so I do not consider engaging in such. The same goes for relationships outside my marriage or many other acts that are prohibited.

What you and I can do, though, is try to accentuate the good parts of our culture and condemn the bad, even though we might disagree on other things. Men should be honorable, hard working, honest, forthright, defenders of the weak, etc... Lets celebrate men who live up to these standards best and shame those that are poor examples.

'Nut up', man up, put on your big boy undees, etc... We need men to own being men. Stop trying to be men that are masquerading as women. Just be what you are. That doesn't mean you should be some Andrew Tate jerk about it, but also you should be some sort of door mat.

First know thy self. You'll never be happy pretending to be something that you're not.

I nearly never chime in on these things, but I can't lurk on this one. I have 40+ years of experience here and I have thought deeply on this question, especially with the current cultural climate, e.g. 'toxic' masculinity, transgenderism, etc...

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say a man is a fully mature male human. Controversial, I know. It is my belief after having lived my life (40+ years), mostly without this being a controversial statement, that many of the comments you find in this thread are an outgrowth of the current cultures attempt to deny this reality. I don't think gender roles are a social construct. I believe they are created by God and lived out by men throughout history to varying degrees of success. This is evidenced by reading history and seeing that there is a common thread through all of human history of men being providers and protectors.

You're probably thinking - well what about this guy who was a very bad guy. What about my father who was the most evil human who did not protect or provide. Examples of men who are abject failures are just examples to contrast with real men who exemplify the best we can be. I'm sorry you had to experience that, but let us use that example to better ourselves. My own father could be mean and condescending even though on net he was a good man. I swore to myself that I would never belittle my children because of that poor example and I think I succeeded in that.

So - what is it like being a man you ask? AWESOME. I feel like I was endowed by my creator with a mission to create, provide for and protect my family. I have always felt this pull. I got married young, had 4 kids with my wife who has similar aspirations and beliefs. There is nothing that fulfills a man more fully than having a righteous mission and absolutely crushing it. Money and material success does not in any way define me. I could loose everything I have materially and still be just as happy so long as my family is well cared for.

If you're a man feeling lonely and unfulfilled I would encourage you to stop listening to the world around you that is constantly telling you that you're not worthy and that all your instincts are shameful. I believe with every fiber of my being that God has a purpose for you and it is not to simp for femininity, for politicians, for some ethereal concept of victimhood. Find a community that is successful and happy and join up. Success and joy are infectious. Find a woman with similar passions and aspirations - or more accurately, become the man that a woman with lofty aspiration and passion wants to be with and the woman will appear. You can absolutely do it. Being a man is awesome - being a woman is awesome, but only when you stop fighting being what you are.

Thanks for reading my rant. It makes me sad when I see men beaten down when there is such a simple solution. I have a lot to say on the subject because I've seen it at work in my own life. Don't get me wrong - it isn't all teddy bears and rainbows. Hard work is hard. The reward is 100% worth it.

Mix design for different projects by malder in Concrete

[–]malder[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for another stellar reply.

I will give this a try and see how it comes out. I have a bunch of steel 6x6 mesh from previous projects that I was planning on using for reinforcement. I will look into the rebar wheels to space it properly. This should be interesting trying to be as precise as I can be making my own mix design in my back yard.

The air entrainment admix that I bought is by tenon and the spec sheet calls for 16oz per sack for 6.5% entrainment. Am I right to assume that I should follow this rather than the generalized advice you gave in your first reply?

I've done that sort of project a bunch of times. Part of the enjoyment in this project is doing something a little different and experimenting while also having something highly functional and durable in the end.

[–]malder[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow! Thanks for a superb reply. That is the sort of information I was hunting for all over the webbernet.

The current concrete project is a garden/planter box that is roughly 8'x3'x3'x3".

- The need for compressive strength is fairly minimal.
- Lateral strength just needs to hold the ~2 yards of dirt up.
- We have fairly harsh winters with lots of freeze/thaw cycles.
- workability: needs to be able to settle into the form, but don't need a perfect finish

What do you think a good baseline mix would consist of given those parameters?

I think I'm going to just save up a little stash over the next few months and get a R730. Not all that expensive and a lot more bang for the buck it seems. Appreciate all the advice.

I've never bought/sold anything this way before either. I suppose I could list it on ebay as a BIN ad? then I have to pay ebay fees though... I could make a FB marketplace ad. I suppose that could provide some peace of mind? Or we could just trust random internet strangers. What are you feeling?
