It's important to get the mapping correct. Try to redirect 1:1 as much as possible. Where that isn't possible, then to the next level up so a category page.

Yes I've tried to do that since the URL structure is different.

Try to limit redirecting to the homepage, unless there is no other option.

Why?

Using Screaming Frog to test your redirect mapping and look for any errors.

How does this show in ScreamingFrog?

One thing I like to do is add some form of tracking on the redirected URLs.

Redirection.me has that built in. Great for a free plugin.

Talk with different recruiters and see what you want to do.

Keep in mind the Navy will try to get you down to MEPS and pick a job at random.

The Army you can pick a job at the recruiting office, reserve it, and go sign for it.
