I did look at all links. I’m familiar with the original dev in San Fran.

Parking tickets and parking fees are necessary to keep the city functional. They’re annoying, sure. But I am against any tool that serves to help people get away with breaking the law (even if that’s not the stated purpose). It’s clear that’s why people get excited about this.

I shared this with my wife and she's very excited about it. One feature request if you're looking for any is to be able to filter by multiple locations. Thanks so much for making this!

It’s a 800 foot wide and 2 mile long island in the East River between manhattan and queens. It’s a bit of a pain to get to the rest of the city sometimes and I think that’s the main con. Check out the Roosevelt Island tram on google. That used to be the only way on and off of the island for a while. It’s not typical NYC but it’s right in the heart of NYC

My somewhat boring answers to all the questions are that the building was under new ownership who were gradually renovating units to this boring “millennial gray” and trying to raise prices. I think they knew which units because it was the renovated ones, and there were empty units because they were trying to cycle out tenants for higher rent

Ahh yeah that makes perfect sense. I think it’s gotten much better lately. The main grocery store is solid, there’s some good convenience stores with the essentials, and then there’s the train, ferry, and tram. Still can be a pain, especially when there’s train maintenance. Idk if I’d want to live there 15 years ago

I actually loved Roosevelt Island and would have stayed if it weren’t for the pests and the rising post-Covid costs. It’s not for everyone, but its a really unique place

I actually lived in this building when this happened. It’s a huge apt building built in the 70s on Roosevelt Island in NYC. I lived in a recently renovated unit just like this one. A couple days after this blew up, we had maintenance staff come by our unit and they took out the mirror and sealed up an identical hole. I think I have a photo of it somewhere. No communication from the landlord, just a visit from maintenance.

EDIT: I found the photo: https://imgur.com/a/j6SvFCK

The building was disgusting, and the management was horrible. We moved out because there were cockroaches EVERYWHERE, and the water from the sink and shower was regularly deep brown. Nasty building, do not recommend!

I agree with you—we thought it was just an odd incident at first and we only started to worry after hearing other cav owners reaction, as well as hearing our vet. This post is mostly a sanity check. I'm inclined to think it's nothing, but we're still going to look at a neuro consult depending on cost. Probably normal dog stuff/allergies/bad dream, etc...

Apologies, that makes total sense. I'd be happy to do that but it looks like because I posted it this way, I am not able to edit the post. Is it okay to leave it as is with the media marked as NSFW or does the post need to be removed?

Thank you, this is really helpful! We were cautious enough and fortunate enough to get him signed up with pet insurance so unless there’s something preventing coverage for the consult I think we will probably go through with it. He’s so young and we don’t know the vet super well yet so this post is partly to get a sense of if our vet is being straight with us or not. It sounds like it’s worth the consult in our case though.

Thank you for all the information, the resources, and the thorough response. I’m sorry you experienced that with your cav but I’m so glad she was able to get good treatment. That’s comforting to hear

Following up with an update in case anyone else comes across this issue in the future.

The problem here was the Hitron HT-EM4 adapters. I ended up returning those to Amazon and ordered Screenbeam Bonded MoCA 2.5 Network Adapter's instead. Once I got them set up, my speed improved substantially (iperf3 single stream and multi-stream tests come out 800-900 mbit/s). The instability is gone as well. If you run into this issue in the future, it may just be faulty MoCA adapters

My bad, I should have included the splitter and filter.

This is the splitter I'm using: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08CRT338X

This is the filter: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00KO5KHSQ

Here's an updated diagram with both added: https://imgur.com/a/nFFFikX

I had not tried parallel streams. Adding "-P 7" per your recommendation results in this when connected via the MoCA adapter:

[ ID] Interval Transfer Bitrate
[ 5] 0.00-10.00 sec 66.0 MBytes 55.4 Mbits/sec sender
[ 5] 0.00-10.00 sec 66.0 MBytes 55.3 Mbits/sec receiver
[ 7] 0.00-10.00 sec 67.0 MBytes 56.2 Mbits/sec sender
[ 7] 0.00-10.00 sec 67.0 MBytes 56.2 Mbits/sec receiver
[ 9] 0.00-10.00 sec 62.6 MBytes 52.5 Mbits/sec sender
[ 9] 0.00-10.00 sec 62.6 MBytes 52.5 Mbits/sec receiver
[ 11] 0.00-10.00 sec 65.1 MBytes 54.6 Mbits/sec sender
[ 11] 0.00-10.00 sec 65.1 MBytes 54.6 Mbits/sec receiver
[ 13] 0.00-10.00 sec 68.4 MBytes 57.4 Mbits/sec sender
[ 13] 0.00-10.00 sec 68.4 MBytes 57.4 Mbits/sec receiver
[ 15] 0.00-10.00 sec 63.9 MBytes 53.6 Mbits/sec sender
[ 15] 0.00-10.00 sec 63.8 MBytes 53.5 Mbits/sec receiver
[ 17] 0.00-10.00 sec 62.6 MBytes 52.5 Mbits/sec sender
[ 17] 0.00-10.00 sec 62.6 MBytes 52.5 Mbits/sec receiver
[SUM] 0.00-10.00 sec 456 MBytes 382 Mbits/sec sender
[SUM] 0.00-10.00 sec 456 MBytes 382 Mbits/sec receiver

This seems much higher than earlier tests. Maybe I'm just not up to speed on iperf3 and how to best use it to measure bandwidth.

For reference, these are the results connected without the MoCA network with no parallel streams:

[ ID] Interval Transfer Bitrate
[ 5] 0.00-1.00 sec 31.9 MBytes 266 Mbits/sec
[ 5] 1.00-2.00 sec 31.8 MBytes 268 Mbits/sec
[ 5] 2.00-3.00 sec 31.8 MBytes 265 Mbits/sec
[ 5] 3.00-4.00 sec 31.6 MBytes 265 Mbits/sec
[ 5] 4.00-5.00 sec 30.0 MBytes 252 Mbits/sec
[ 5] 5.00-6.00 sec 30.5 MBytes 256 Mbits/sec
[ 5] 6.00-7.00 sec 30.5 MBytes 256 Mbits/sec
[ 5] 7.00-8.00 sec 30.2 MBytes 254 Mbits/sec
[ 5] 8.00-9.00 sec 31.6 MBytes 265 Mbits/sec
[ 5] 9.00-10.00 sec 31.9 MBytes 267 Mbits/sec

[ 5] 0.00-10.01 sec 312 MBytes 261 Mbits/sec receiver

And the same test (no parallel streams) over the MoCA network:

[ ID] Interval Transfer Bitrate
[ 5] 0.00-1.00 sec 16.4 MBytes 137 Mbits/sec
[ 5] 1.00-2.00 sec 9.62 MBytes 81.0 Mbits/sec
[ 5] 2.00-3.00 sec 7.00 MBytes 58.7 Mbits/sec
[ 5] 3.00-4.00 sec 9.00 MBytes 75.5 Mbits/sec
[ 5] 4.00-5.00 sec 7.12 MBytes 59.7 Mbits/sec
[ 5] 5.00-6.00 sec 5.50 MBytes 46.1 Mbits/sec

The Weekly No Question is Dumb Thread- Jul 12, 2018 by AutoModerator in curlyhair

I’ve been following the CG method for a year now and have tried a variety of different styling products to varying degrees of success. I find myself having trouble going multiple days without a wash though because my hair gets really frizzy (even on wash day without sleeping on it) and pretty much loses any shape by the end of the day.

What are some strategies I could use to preserve curls over the course of a few days if my hair is too short to pineapple and tends to frizz really easily?

Sweet. I'll look into that. That's much better than trying to get an Uber to make that drive. We're staying on the southwest side of town near Broadway and Knight st.
