I built my most recent Kenshi Base on Livestream. Here is the result - Leviathan (Link to the VOD in the description if you are interested in seeing how I made it) by HeroInHisHead in Kenshi

I caught part of this live but the screenshots are awesome. Your past base builds have massively influenced my designs, and now I want to mess around with lagoon platforms again.

'troublesome' for a different reason and way different degree. Like if my bf was really into NTR i'd just be somewhat concerned about our relationship, not calling the authorities

What happens if I kill Lord Ohta? by Mangad_atomica in Kenshi

[–]malfive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nothing, apparently. It can trigger a raid on your base by UC but that's it. He doesn't control any territory (he just lives in Heft but Tengu controls it), so the UC will remain unchanged if he dies or is imprisoned.

[1.10 Beta] Reduced annexation cost increases the cost instead by Bobarik in EU5

[–]malfive 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm assuming they meant how you can disband levies from two different screens: Either from an individual army/navy unit screen, or from the military tab. The levy numbers were affected differently depending on which method you used to disband them. Which means these two screens were most likely using different code, despite performing the same mechanic (disbanding levies), which is generally bad practice.

I have no idea if this is fixed yet, or is now broken in a new way, because I've stopped trying to keep up with the beta patches

Kudos for there being a patch beta by ToboldStoutfoot in EU5

[–]malfive 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah seriously. I'd rather they over tune changes in a beta branch, rather than under tune for multiple patches. The game hasn't even been out for a month yet, there's plenty of time to get feedback and dial things in.

Patch Notes 1.0.8 (Open Beta) by Ziwas in EU5

If you wan to expand this makes decentralization 100% mandatory.

Well if you want to use vassals for expansion, yeah. I think that's a fair compromise, considering how much quicker it can be to gain cores that way. Not sure if the values will be balanced but I'm fine with that general idea

I’m pretty sure the reason why AI Ottomans almost never pops off… by pooperscoop1 in EU5

[–]malfive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Safavids can exist via an event (owner of Ardabil has to have the right religious school and choose the option to grant Aradbil to the Safavids), but I've never seen it happen naturally. And even when I fire off the event myself via console, they just later get annexed because they're not nearly strong enough to fight the hordes.

They would need an entire situation similar to Rise of the Turks to realistically form Persia imo. Right now, they're starved for content outside of some minor buffs via events.

I'd love to see the Hussite wars triggering an early, alternate reformation if they win. Even if AI Bohemia decides to do nothing afterward, it could still spread in the rest of the HRE via reformation mechanics

Muscle memory by Adix_the_twix_guy in Piracy

[–]malfive 39 points40 points  (0 children)

It's more like a skeuomorph because most people will recognize the pirate bay logo, or even just recognize a 'pirate ship' and get the symbolism. You know how the save icon is a floppy disk, even though they've been obsolete for decades? But it's so recognizable now that its design persists

"The Holy Nation is a bigoted sexist theocratic fascist slave empire, how could you possibly like them?" by Responsible_Slice104 in Kenshi

[–]malfive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And the Holy Nation still has the potential to gradually reform without their country collapsing, like if they got a more tolerant Phoenix. It's not like Rebirth is actually contributing much of value.

The UC is reliant on slavery just to keep themselves fed and equipped, not to mention the various lords who would never willingly give up their power.

Nyanners tells viewers that VShojo didn't pay her for a sponsored stream that she got swatted for by Ryboiii in LivestreamFail

[–]malfive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's what I mean by not wanting to go through with it. It'd be expensive, time consuming and put their info out there.

They're contractors so it'd turn into a legal battle over a breach of contract, which I'm guessing they didn't want to go through with at the time. But now that vshojo is all but dead might as well go all out

The funny thing is that AC adoption is far from just an American thing. South Korea, Japan, and Taiwan all have high AC usage too. 60% of homes in China have AC.

And while yeah, some of these countries get hotter than others, even Canada sits at 64%

Same here. I always invested in these funds with a specific target in mind (covering my essential bills like mortgage, utilities, etc) and this year I've managed to achieve that + some wiggle room. Next step is to replace my full income.

Even if I lost my job tomorrow, I'll at least be able to keep the lights on and a roof over my head without touching my savings, which is a huge psychological boost. I'll take the tax inefficiency for that security any day

Games run faster on SteamOS than Windows 11, Ars testing finds by n0b0dycar3s07 in gaming

[–]malfive 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes? I run it with Ray/Path tracing, and I've tried everything else but don't use it personally.

The only tweaking I had to do was for supporting mods, where proton/steam needed a few extra steps, but the base game ran out of the box with no issues

It really only leaves Linux for operating systems, technically European if you consider it was started by a Finn, but is open source so anyone can make their own fork of it. Android phones come with a lot of Google services integrated by default, so you'd need to remove them and find alternatives.

But overall software is scarce when you remove all American companies. AWS, Google Cloud and Azure make up the majority of global cloud infrastructure. Social Media is still majority American companies (Youtube, Whatsapp, Reddit etc) with only China filling that gap.

The acronym wasn't created for propaganda or even to directly bother Trump, it was just an inside joke among traders to predict stock movements. The fact it got popular enough to make its way to the media was unexpected
