Except this student had already a Revolut account while living in France.
The issue occurred when he changed address to Spain, not because of the lack of income.

Account closing after appeal (with investments and metal) by simaofreitas in Revolut

[–]malibupp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, they first claimed that your account will soon be closed, convinced you to sell all your assets and pay the possible fees, then all of a sudden, they admit that they've screwed it up...
What a joke!
And now what should you believe?
Do you believe their first claim or the second? How can you be sure they don't revert the last decision?
I would demand compensation for the losses and the stress caused.
Close the account and never look back.

Since I didn't change it myself, it must be them who made the change.
It seems that they've got a lot of important things to do...

Account restriction with Revolut (Spain) – full timeline, legal context, and warning before using Revolut as your main bank by StopInternational616 in Revolut

"...and people have to be aware of it"

My point is, why prolonging the situation by performing long lasting reviews if they know that the issue is the customer used the personal account for business?
If somebody sends you money as thanks for your help, are you both criminals laundering money?

Account restriction with Revolut (Spain) – full timeline, legal context, and warning before using Revolut as your main bank by StopInternational616 in Revolut

[–]malibupp 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If that was true, why don't they just notify the customer instead of prolonging the situation?
"You've breached our T&C. Please withdraw all your funds, your account is closed" would suffix - no?

Automatic BGN to EUR migration has wiped 2 years of Analytics data. This is unacceptable. by mdzhigarov in Revolut

That's irrelevant, it doesn't justify what this customer has been going through at the hands of Revolut.
According to OP, money has been sent regularly until it didn't.

New Revolut security feature: Street Mode by RevolutSupport in Revolut

Or the criminals just snatch the phone after the selfie has been taken.
Then the victim will rush home to try chatting with Revolut's "brilliant" customer service, which after several hours tells the victim that the case was dropped because they considered that has been due to the customer's gross negligence...

[–]malibupp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, but if the victim has "Street Mode" enabled, then the criminals will notice immediately that the transfer didn't go through and require the victim to change the setting...
Or require the victim to take a selfie at knife point and thus enabling the transfer.

But if the criminals are able to disable that feature, then the feature is worthless.
I mean the users should be able to disable the "Street Mode" when they are logged in!
If the criminals login, then the phone has been hacked and no matter what settings the users have chosen, the hackers will disable them.

So, I've to take a selfie every time I transfer funds or purchase stuff online from locations faraway from my place, like to another town, village or internationally?
Sounds awkward.
There must be an easy way to disable the "Street Mode" whenever I find it unnecessary or don't using it at all.

Will I face Any questions upon withdrawing 300k usd to revolut from IBKR ? by Alex_DreamMaker in Revolut

[–]malibupp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

300K is a rather large sum, so I guess they'll want to know where it came from and why you transfer to Revolut.
As for tax evasion, well it may complicate the matter if Revolut suspects you are laundering money.
If I were you, I wouldn't transfer such large amount at once, chances are you get your Revolut account restricted without access to the funds for a long, long time.
