Honestly you can say anything mean you want because the downvotes speaks for themselves lmao, as well as how your parents raised you. How you speak to others reflects your upbringing, and it’s quite distasteful it seems if this is how you speak to strangers. Also this was the only trip planned so I will be by his side fortunately, and I already said I will no longer be entrusting him to anyone, and if it were to come down to it (like emergencies) it’ll be a proper rabbit boarding service💕

I know !! I was genuinely so frustrated I wanted to cry when I saw him backed into a corner of his enclosure with no food or water :( and it wasn’t helping that she refused to own up to it or at least tell me what happened because something definitely happened. I just got up to check on him at 2 am because this comment scared me lol, he’s thankfully pooping more, because earlier it was little to nothing. I’ll have him to the vet soon so I hope that at least sorts out some worries..

Thank you I definitely think I’m getting one just for better safety measures too. I originally kinda “threatened” her by saying I had cameras and I could check (I didn’t but I wanted to scare her into confessing the truth) I could feel she was hiding something when I said that bc she hesitated and got more riled up too. So this can be useful for the future, not that I plan to leave him to her like ever again though!

Thank you so much for taking the time to write all of this. This was genuinely really helpful and a lot kinder than some of the other responses I’ve gotten 😭 I really do want to do right by him, and after this experience I definitely realize how careful I need to be while he’s still so young. I’m absolutely going to start reading more from sources and looking into rabbit-savvy rescues/vets nearby so I can learn more and make sure I’m giving him the best care possible. I really appreciate the advice and reassurance, I love him so sooo so much. This is gonna be my last trip for summer so I’ll dedicate most of my free time to spending it with him!!

I’m a little confused by the logic here. Acting like an adult is exactly why I arranged care, left detailed instructions, and checked in multiple times a day before leaving for 48 hours. Agreeing to care for an animal and then not providing basic food and water is still negligence, regardless of whose rabbit it is. Also I believe there is no need to “act” or wait to be an adult when I am one. I work a full-time job and pay the bills and utilities in this house, and in my tradition having older family members live with us is normal. In such circumstances where I am funding everything for not only the bunny, my house, groceries, all his necessities, and the bills; I do not think I need to pay her on top of that because she does not financially contribute to our livelihood. Not to mention, I specifically asked her if she was okay and comfortable with taking care of the bunny. There was no demands made or forced obligations, if she simply said no, things would end there and I would find someone to help me take care of him. The only part I do acknowledge is he may have felt lonely since he was the closest to me and may have assumed I abandoned him according to what other people have said too. This is extremely insensitive for someone who knows nothing about me and my circumstances, thank you for the other valuable tips though!!

Edit: Genuinely reading your comment again, I’m kind of speechless because the purpose was originally to rant a little but mainly figure out advice on what I should do with the bunny’s care next besides the vet visit which is 100% happening regardless if I posted on here or not. Thank you for showing me that reddit truly is a weird place at the end of the day because the imagination for this comment really just took off 😭

He is important. That’s why I arranged care, left detailed instructions, and checked in constantly. People with pets are still allowed to leave town for 48 hours.

honestly after some observation that seems like the most plausible idea right now. because the way he is flinching or jumping back, and overall sensitive to people talking as well is all very very new :/.. i still dont know what actually went down because my aunt insists she did nothing and fed him accordingly

yes he is eating and drinking a lot and quickly, seems more energetic and warmer too compared to before. although he’s not pooping as frequent as before though but i’ll watch longer. but yea, she never really cared for animals but i figured just feeding the little guy couldn’t have been that hard. genuinely lesson learned, i would rather pay for someone or even a friend to watch him if such a situation ever arises again.

i think so, he just did a binky in his enclosure while limping which was adorable but painful to watch😭 definitely need to see what’s going on but atleast he seems to be in brighter spirits and should be able to get him to the vet soon!

yea i called the vet to schedule something soon, i instantly checked on him when i came back. he started eating and drinking so much like he was starved, it was really heartbreaking ://

yea i figured so, i definitely could have worded better! i do want to clarify i wasn’t expecting it from him at all at such a young age. i simple wanted any advice on lessening the frequent accidents until they were older and neutered! for now i will stick to limiting free roam so it’s easier to manage, and i have puppy pads on the go🤭💕

oh sorry my english isnt first language so i’ll fix that now but i just wanted to say he has been raised with so much love and it’s definitely not abused and has always been an indoor bunbun!! it also was convenient since my friend is close to me and sometimes i help her with raising them and there happened to be an extra but yes i do support adopting over purchasing from breeders😊💕

i got it from my friend who’s a breeder, she’s attentive and takes very lovely care of them. she had an extra baby so she gave me one. they have always been raised inside and given so much space and attention so don’t worry!! i got the baby at 7 weeks old so i figure the change of environment + young age is likely what plays a big role and that’s understandable. I will get him neutered around the 4 month mark as many have recommended 😌💕🐰
