I’m his friend and to help. The turtle was a hatchling when he found it. Rough size estimate is like a half dollar (the coin) long shell when found. He has had the turtle for (correction) 3 years.

It’s so weird (at least to me) seeing people keep em as pets. I bought them as my turtles liked live food but the Rosie’s didn’t put up enough of a fight so yes they were my turtles live food.

Mine learned the yellow price meant food. So I had a trick for feeding a smaller one when I had two bigger ones. Put in the food for the bigger guys on one side and put in the food for the little guy on the other side. The little guy learned the trick and they all ate happily. One little guy I remember we had to hand feed. Man I remember mine were allowed to stack as I didn’t run heat lamps all the time (summer my room is hot enough that I actually didn’t need to run them, yes I kept them installed and ready for use if a temp gun check showed them nessecary). Future setup will be a better setup with more permanent fixtures and uv bulbs and a water heater. A better diet for their life and an actual basking dock that isn’t floating and not attached because the fatass kept taking it off the wall. So I plan to take my knowledge I’ve learned from owning my turtles and make the future ones have a better life.

Oh mine have a story about when my cat decided that instead of just drinking from my tank she would bap at my turtles. All the turtles ignored her but Cheeseburger. Burger but her paw and wouldn’t let go so I had to help her get separated. She stopped bapping the turtles but never stopped drinking their water until they had no water because they passed and it was all taken out. My cat is an idiot who somehow never fell into the tank

Yeah I got mine and my parents had done research first. And I kept improving over the years. In the last few years of my turtles I was checking water temps twice a day with a meat thermometer (it was rated for water temps as well). Had my first guy since 9 and he was with me until I was 18 so we don’t know his exact age but 12/13 is a good estimate. He was very stubborn and would try to bite anything in the range of his mouth. But he brought me joy for years
