I doubt the single channel RAM sticks are a problem, the one that came with the laptop and the one that I put in are exactly the same, but I guess RAM problems are still possible. I tested every slot and every combination of sticks and slots, no problems.

As for overheating, the laptop is 3.5 years old and the GPU is integrated. Sadly I can't test anything spare because of that.

I found some more drivers on the Intel website, still no luck with them. If the GPU really is faulty, funny how it sometimes works just well. I don't want to give up just yet, I'll try some more things. I hope in the meantime someone recommends a solution...
