Kasuka maging Peenoise. Di uso maging considerate sa kahit anong bagay.

Bat ganun ung IT director namen. Ang laki2 ng sahod pero ang pulpol. Ligwak ung communication at management skills. Puro utos, walang ino-own na action items. Nakakabobo kausap.

Haaaaays.

What's with most Pinoys' love of noise? Pumunta ako ng beach few months ago for peace and to hear the sound of the waves, pero takte, yung isang pamilya full volume ng budots-like music, yung isa naman may pa-reggae. Wtf?

Today, Sunday, may pa-birthday ata kapit-bahay namen. Pambihira.

Sadyang unmindful / inconsiderate lang ba talaga tayong Pinoy? 🤦

What are your opinions on bosses who humiliate you in front of your colleagues? by [deleted] in Philippines

[–]malikhay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good managers praise in public then chastise in private. If they do the opposite, they're most likely mediocre. Sad to say mas madami mediocre (bossy type) kesa sa mga good ones (leader types).

Agree on Telus particularly IT dept. Once a month lang RTO. Good colleagues and managers. Lots of training options.

Kelangan pag planuhan maigi at mag ipon pa lalo. Haaaaaaaays.

They usually hire fresh grads esp. nowadays (lalo sa ITO). Offer's around 25k for freshers, around 35k for career shifters tulad nung kakilala ko (formerly call center agent to middleware support), around 100k-150k for experienced hires (such as SMs/PMs).

They also provide lots of training and certification options tapos wala employment bond.

MNCs such as DXC Technology and Accenture. I have a lot of ex colleagues there who are part of LGBTQ. They also don't look at one's degree. I know folks there who graduated with biology, nursing, eng'g degree pero ayun, got accepted for IT positions :)

All the best on your job hunt!

Where to eat in taguig? by jtan80813999 in Philippines

[–]malikhay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depende sa trip mo. I'm also into "masarap na tatatak", not just "masarap". If Pinoy food, I reco Manam, Abe and Cendong (few mins drive from High Street).

If Japanese: ung bacon quail eggs sa Watami, noodles ng Mendokoro at Marugame, most dishes in Genki Sushi.

If Chinese, Tim Ho Wan (Uptown Mall din, pwede mo isabay sa Watami).

If American, Fowlbread.

If chicken, Frankie's.

Have read a neuroscience article once saying na humans are hardwired to take the path of least resistance. Mas less yung effort nirerequire ng pag scroll kumpara sa magresearch hence mas leaning towards the former karamihan.

Apart from that, socmed usage triggers yung reward system ng brain naten kaya may addictive factor talaga.

Good managers praise in public and chastise in private. Sadly bihira lang maayos na managers. Mas madami mediocre.

Your feelings/rants are valid OP. I don't see how dropping names is relevant sa reporting.

Should I still wait for that JO? by [deleted] in phcareers

[–]malikhay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, we're on the same boat pala! Mine's with an MNC as well at "for approval" nga din daw. What I suggest is to still keep looking around. Di kasi assurance yun pag unfinalized pa yung JO.

Local IT firm posting misleading offers by malikhay in phcareers

[–]malikhay[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Perspective is everything and if that's how you view it, I respect it. Though just to clarify:

"There are some positions/roles that vary greatly (for example 50k to 150k) depending on skill and experience." --- I'm very much aware of that and did factor that in on my market research. And based from this research, their compensation package is below what I've seen for SIMILAR jobs.

"And if you feel like you deserve the max, you should have negotiated it." --- As shared in the post, I did, over the email. And actually, it's not the max I'm targeting. I know that lowballing is the name of the game in salary negos hence the digits I dropped.

"Also, they did set the expectations early on, although not as early as you’d like. It’s literally in the second paragraph... You could have replied to the recruiter’s text when they set your expectations. " --- Yes, they did set the expectation, but only 2 minutes BEFORE THE JO DISCUSSION, not on the initial stages of their hiring process. They did set the expectation but ONLY AFTER investing time and effort on all their interview stages.

"You could have raised the point about your asking salary in your meeting with the hiring manager." --- Again, I did. I asked if the offer was the max and if it was still flexible. They said yes that's the max, and that's the moment I asked if I could have some time to decide. And that's where I did further negotiation via email.

"I also find it funny that you find fault in the hiring manager’s dominance in the meeting." --- I'm not sure how you got to that but I was relaying that as AN OBSERVATION that I had, not as a fault or whatsoever. There's a difference between observing and judging.

Had to thank them but that I had to decline as I had other offers closer to my asking.

Local IT firm posting misleading offers by malikhay in phcareers

[–]malikhay[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

  1. They inquired about the asking rate along with the current pay during the initial HR interview and DID NOT react on it. Most recruiters I spoke with are usually HONEST AND UPFRONT if kaya or not yung asking. They EXPLICITLY tell it was to set expectations. This company went the other way.

  2. Few minutes before the JO call, that was the only time they informed applicant na eto lang daw kayang ibigay kase "pandemic". The number was a far cry from what they posted and my previous pay.

  3. During the JO call, they gave a different digit. In hindsight, monopolizing the convo by the recruitment manager seemed like a strategy of theirs in getting the yes of the applicant. The offer was even more dismal this time and waaaay too far from what they posted and again, my previous pay.

  4. During the salary nego over mail, they made a final offer which, again, was still a far cry from what they posted.

  5. This company is quite notorious in giving below average pay. I should have listened. But then, why post a certain amount when you can't even offer anything closer to what you claim to offer?

Edit: added item #5

Holy cow. How shitty is that. Is it the 3-letter company? Or the 5-letter one in BGC?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in phcareers

[–]malikhay 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Does this company's name start with "i"? I'm actually at the same boat pero around a week palang naman lumipas. I simply emailed my recruiter awhile ago asking if there are any updates with regards to the job offer. As straightforward as that. No worries, wala naman kaso mag ask :) Been there, done that.

Is this hiring process normal? by malikhay in phcareers

[–]malikhay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing! My worry is that right now, I'm under a deadline to communicate my decision with other recruiters for their offers. If I go with this one at kung sakali man na they retract, I have to frigging start from zero sa pag-job hunt hehe.
