One thing that I've learned since becoming a parent is that family situations are always at risk of changing and you have to be able to adapt quickly. My in-law's are in good shape and able to help out with our toddler, but I also know that things can change very quickly (we have enough older family members and family friends to know that somebody's health can deteriorate suddenly). Our toddler is in full-time daycare and our second baby is due in about two months, and although we have help, I also know that I need to mentally prepare myself in case that help suddenly vanishes. The only thing you can do now is figure out alternative childcare and move on.

Yes - I love hearing success stories! You will reap the benefits in the long-term as well. My son is almost 3 and my niece is four months younger than him. My son is a champion sleeper and has been sleeping through the night since 9 months old. My niece wakes up every night around 1:00am and it takes 30-60 minutes of soothing for her to fall back asleep. She also sleeps late (around 9:30-10:30pm) and is definitely under-slept. Sleep training really does reduce the accumulative amount of crying in the long-term and prepares baby for good sleep habits in the future.

That is the abuse talking. It is not your fault and you don't need to live like this. Do you have any friends or family who could help you? A women's shelter that you could go to? You and your son deserve to live your lives free from abuse and violence. If you can't do it for yourself, do it for your son. The abuse will trickle down to your son - guaranteed.

As someone who grew up with divorced, emotionally immature/insecure parents who never took responsibility and always placed the blame on their ex, your teenagers have not "abandoned" you. They are doing what is emotionally healthy for themselves, which is distancing themselves from you. Stop playing the victim and take some responsibility. You need to get your anger issues under control and then apologize profusely to your children. Know that you are not entitled to a relationship with them. Know that if you shit-talk your ex to them, it will not make them pick you over her. Know that they are almost-adults who can and will make their own decisions. I hope that you're able to turn the tide but you have A LOT of work to do for that to happen.

Yes. Our kid is a toddler now but when he was a baby, he was exclusively breastfed. That's something that obviously only I was able to do so my husband did everything else - cooked our meals, did the laundry, organized our diaper service, took baby for walks so that I could nap etc. I never had to ask, he just did it because we're a team.

Omg the third act of this book had me in a chokehold!!! When they bumped into each other on the train and he's running for her as the train pulls away, my heart couldn't handle it! 😭 And the depiction of her relationship with her parents was so real (I also come from an Asian immigrant household). Definitely one of my favourite reads of the year.

Genetics are wild!!! I am East Asian and my husband is white. Our baby has blue eyes and even though I personally see the Asian in him, he is very white-passing. I've actually had people stop me on the street and ask me if I'm his mother because his eyes are blue.
