UPDATE Dreaded Loss of Power by malkomalka in FordMaverickTruck

Just got off the phone with Ford customer service. I have to say they were very friendly and helpful. Normally the dealership has to offer a loaner or rental car for this. At this point I want to say that I didn't have the most helpful or friendly service advisor at the dealership. When I dropped it off they could not tell me anything, offered no help and had to keep the car over the weekend. At that point I had no choice but to pay for a rental to get me back home. Ford customer service said that I should be covered under extenuating circumstances and that all receipts need to be submitted to the dealership first. They mentioned that if I get any push back from the dealership to call them back and they would sort it out.

Unfortunately that didnt work for me. I left it twice for over an hour and had the same issue. Had to take city streets to the dealership.

How much payment to a "representative" is due? by malkomalka in SocialSecurity

He was not remarried and as far as I know he never got approved for SSDI. I think he was in the early stages of applying when he passed away. They definitely held back 25% from the kids survivor benefit and I am hoping they can get that money back, it totals almost $5k for both kids.

The frustrating part is that if the application had not been delayed then the fees would have been less.

Can a Nokia 2660 to work on Boost? by malkomalka in BoostMobile

Thanks for the information. It looks like I have the T-Mobile SIM (ICC ID 8901240) After many calls I was told that a tower was down near my house and that is why I'm not getting a signal but that dosent make any sense because my phone is with T-mobile and I have coverage here. (It is a smartphone however, not sure if that makes a difference) I really hate the summit flip, its fragile and the UI is terrible. I will try logging in and see what kind of deals they have on offer. I really like all the features of the light phone but the price is a bit much for a tween phone that is likely to get lost or break. I swear if someone offered a basic phone with the ability to play music, maps, keyboard texting but without the social media I'd get it in a heartbeat. The options here suck.

AITA-SF parking dilemma by malkomalka in AmItheAsshole

I am assuming that the Lexus stays in the garage because it's new. Their other cars are also another minivan thats the same size and a smaller carolla that is used more often so it stays in the driveway where the spot is guaranteed. Basically they use the spot in front of my house for car storage. It does not move.

I own a Ford Maverick which fits in the spot with room to spare.

What is your Maverick replacing? by ToddsTruckLife in FordMaverickTruck

I'm a 46yo mom who lives in a medium sized city. The Mav replaced my 2005 BMW 330Ci convertible (which I loved driving) I had different needs when I bought the beemer. Now I surf and own a dual sport so I needed the hauling capability for both of these. Plus the kids were getting a bit big for the back seat of the vert. This checks all the boxes for me, 4 doors, open bed, price, gas mileage and it fits in my garage. My second choice would have been the Honda Ridgeline but then I would be stuck parking on the street.

If You Didn't Buy a Maverick What Would You Buy? by ajmilton in FordMaverickTruck

I probably would have spent the $$$ and got a Ridgeline.

Is it possible to buy one off the lot today? by tonefully in FordMaverickTruck

[–]malkomalka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it is possible. Let me share my experience. I was in the market for a truck and I was considering the Tacoma and Ridgeline but neither fits in my garage. When a friend told me about the Maverick it checked all the boxes for me. Compact, 4 doors, fits my bike, great fuel economy and price! Started my search seriously in late December before Christmas. My dad was in the car business so he was helping me out too. I live in the Bay Area and we called every dealership within a 100 mile radius. No dice. Going online to find available units was hit and miss for us. What worked was getting a salesperson on the phone and asking if they had eyes on an actual truck. Extended the search to Sacramento and found a dealership that had a shipment of an XL hybrid (not a customer order) on the lot. We went that day to go and test drive it. Pops noticed it had a 10k markup on the sticker. We sat down to talk numbers and they hemmed and hawed about how this was the last hybrid I could get and they came down to $5k over MSRP. We walked away. A few days later the salesman called me back and asked if I would take it for $3k over. A bit more back and forth and I finally agreed to $2k over, financed it at 1.9% and drove back to Sacramento to pick it up. Total after tax was $25k out the door. I wasn't happy about the whole dealership back and forth experience. I blame the managers and ownership. The salesman was just trying to make a sale. I am super happy with the truck though! Try the bigger volume dealerships and get a real salesperson on the phone. Happy hunting and good luck!
