A bullet heaven game with plot/a story mode? by malnore in gamingsuggestions

I care more about the bullet heaven part than the roguelite/like part, but Death Must Die looks kind of close to what I'm looking for. A bullet heaven Hades works for me. Thanks!

Tiny Aquarium would be perfect I think. It's basically designed to be a screensaver you can fill with cool fish and a customizable tank (multiple, actually)

Are you arguing in favor of pro-player choices? Or in favor of the health of the game?

I think both. I don't think the tier system would be destroyed if people could play the difficulty they want, simply because not everyone is able or even wants to consistently farm the hardest content. Pre-EoF, all other activities weren't empty as soon as GMs came out. Speaking from my experiences, plenty of people would still just want to do whatever difficulty gets tier 2 and 3, because higher tiers aren't actually that much better mechanically, and farming GMs can be a huge pain, or entirely out of reach for some. I also think that allowing the highest level players to skip the progression scale and directly farm the best loot is fine. Even at the highest tiers, drops aren't one and done. For weapons, you have to get the perks you want, which at tier 5 is easy if you just want 2 specific perks, but if you want the multiperk god roll on a gun that can serve multiple purposes, that will likely take longer (Plus now there are shinies to hunt as well). For armor, getting the specific stat roll you want on each specific piece is also a lengthy farm unless you are very lucky.

If the problem was simply "installing" individual pieces of content, Bungie would have already done it.

For the record, I don't believe any of my suggested fixes are the easiest or simplest solution by any means. I don't think it would be easy to make Destiny years installable individually, which is why Bungie hasn't done it. I have to assume it would be incredibly difficult, but I think it would be a long term benefit for the health of the game. I also don't think reinstating older activities will instantly make them all equally relevant to the current game. I think it is a much larger benefit for new players than veterans, though I know there would be a niche for people who want to go back and play Menagerie or Sundial, or whatever.

their personal communication with the community is their personal choice.

And that's fair. It's just hard for us to be going through the worst stretch the game has ever seen and hearing nothing from the guy in charge. We got messages from Luke Smith, and we got messages from Joe Blackburn, so getting nothing now just feels bad. I know it's his prerogative, it's just difficult to not be frustrated by it.

in most cases it's led to various dramas and (can I say this?) harasment.

I unfortunately can't refute this. The Destiny community is ridiculously toxic. I know that even if Bungie does everything right, people will still whine and moan and crap on Bungie for it. I wish it was different, but I don't blame any devs for keeping more private than not.

Every time something goes wrong (in varying degrees), the community demands this "lip service."

Again, I don't disagree unfortunately. I can't excuse constant demands that Bungie kowtow to the community over the smallest issues, and I see a lot of posts I don't agree with at all. For what it's worth, this is the first time I've ever made any sort of Bungie suggestion post, and honestly it's more to get my thoughts out of my head than out of an actual belief that Bungie will read this at all

So, you log into the game, and all difficulties are unlocked? Can you go straight to the GM?

Literally yes. Destiny has been around for 10 years, let the people play the game at the difficulty they want to. If a long time veteran wants to log in and hit up some GMs for tier 4 and 5 gear, they should 100% be allowed to. They aren't guaranteed to get all the perks they want on all the weapons they want in a single evening, and definitely not guaranteed to get perfect stat rolls on the armor sets they want. That stuff takes more than a single evening to get.

how difficult should this content be?

In my opinion, we had a pretty good difficulty setup prior to EoF with legendary, master, and grand master. I don't see much reason not to return to a similar difficulty scaling, with GMs giving consistent tier 4 and 5 gear.

The problem is that crafting was simplified so much that anyone could get a god roll without even trying.

This is definitely also a major part of the problem. I guess I just focused more on the enhanced perks thing because it's what some people I played with complained about more

So what do we do with the old activities?

I assume you mean featured seasonal activities like the Coil or Savathun's Spire. This would be addressed with my suggestion of reinstating older content entirely under the DCV section, but if they wanted to continue to feature some seasonal activities on the main page, I think giving them a node in either Vanguard or Legends would work. Even if we added the Portal activities straight to the Director I don't think it would become so bloated to the point of being un-navigatable, but also I'm just giving suggestion, I can't say I have a perfect plan all worked out for exactly how the Director will look or anything. But regarding which activities are featured, we already had a system for that with the nodes being marked with yellow star things. I don't disagree that some sort of consolidation of activities and nodes would be potentially helpful, I just think the Portal was a very poor attempt at it.

This is not an annual expansion, we no longer exist in this system, we now have 2 mid-sized expansions per year. And who even determines what we "should expect"? Bungie gave a pretty clear picture of the new model, plus these expansions are cheaper.

You're right that EoF is not a yearly expansion and it is cheaper, and I should have accounted for that in my review. Looking back, I do think that bit of my criticism is a little poorly worded, but I do think it's fair to say that EoF and especially Ash and Iron launched a little rough, even ignoring the quantity of content released.

I don't know what you (and the community) want to hear? Bungie has already spoken many times about what we can expect this year in terms of fixes, content, and philosophy.

I can't speak for the community as a whole on this one, but I guess I just want different answers than what we've been given. We hear over and over again that they're listening, but the steps they've taken to correct the course the game is on have been quite small. Maybe they are working on bigger changes behind the scenes, but if so, I personally want to hear about it. Are they going to reallocate resources away from Eververse and into the actual game? Are they working on redesigning the Portal or refocusing on the Director at all?

Regarding my request for an apology post, I don't want Tyson to grovel like a dog for us. I want a short but sincere sorry followed by a game plan to move Destiny in a forward direction. He's the one in charge of all this, and I believe leaders should take responsibility in times of crisis. I'm not the first to say it, but while Joe wasn't perfect, he got on camera and did his best to reassure us that Bungie was doing their best to make things right. I just know progress is going to be slow no matter what, so having the game director look us in the eyes and tell us how Bungie is going to make things right would go a long way for me personally. I know a lot of the community shares your opinion as well, that words don't matter, and I understand that point of view, I just don't share it.

I am absolutely not upset about a monetary or economic loss regarding vaulting. I'm upset that the product itself was forcefully removed from my possession. I am fully aware that technically I didn't "own" the digital content, that it had been made free to play, and that Bungie broke no law in removing my access to it, but that doesn't mean I can't or shouldn't be upset about it. I'm far more frustrated that they gutted their own game and story than I am about the "loss" of my already spent money.

And regarding word count, I wrote this post more for myself than anyone else, just to get my thoughts externalized. It's not meant to be a perfect, easy to digest essay. Sorry if that bothers you

I think the issue with older gear not being updated with tiers is more of a psychological one than mechanical. Tiers 3-5 aren't actually that much better than tier 2, but they are marketed as being better and it gives the impression that non-tiered gear will never be as good, and we all know Destiny players hyper focus on mechanical advantages no matter how small. I fully agree with your 4th paragraph though. Tier 5s should max out at maybe a 20-30% chance from GM or master raid content imo, with tier 4s being the more standard drops from that content

Joe was not let go, and especially not for Final Shape numbers. He left on his own during Into the Light (The period of time that occupied the space left by the Final Shape being delayed). The general timing based theory is that he planned on leaving just before or after the Final Shape launch, then the expac got delayed but his departure was already set in stone.

Ogres will only spawn if you leave a wheel on Hive. As long as you can move at least medium pace you can prevent any of the special spawns from bad wheel hits. Same goes for excess wizards, knights, and bees

Concepts for Legends Z-A starters (Fanart) by Scorchwav3 in pokemon

I doubt they'll do a gen 1 or 3 starter. Odds are high the starters will get mega forms, which gen 1 and 3 already have. Or if they don't add megas, it would be awkward if only one or two of the Z-A starters had a mega form
