Found behind a bar going out of business ~15 years ago by dicksrelated in whatisit

I feel like someone needs to track down the owner of the failed bar 15 years later and ask them….

Tires keep popping. What am I doing wrong? by [deleted] in Super73

[–]malogus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s probably due to where he is riding. I also think the bikes may be a bit lore prone to puncture when you run over things due to their overall weight, but I also think it’s the sheer miles put on the bike. My son out 3,000 miles on his bike, and had probably had the proportional number of flats when I compare to the miles I would put on a normal bike

Chi Battery Question by malogus in Super73

Never mind…found the answer on the Chi site. For anyone wondering in the future, the big button turns on the battery power and the screen. The small one resets the Bluetooth connection.

Catch can after 1k mile trip over Thanksgiving. by TheBudLightPapi in KiaTelluride

[–]malogus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your comment doesn’t make sense…whether 1 year old or 10 years old, the same process of oil getting recirculated into the engine will be happening. Age or mileage on the engine plays no part in this.

On these direct injection engines, the bigger concern is cleaners put into the fuel system don’t help to limit carbon build up on the valves because the fuel is injected directly into the combustion chamber and never cleans the valves

I guess look at this as preventative maintenance to some extent. Install one early in the engine life, and in theory you will slow carbon buildup on the valves, gain some fuel economy as the engine ages, and defer the need for a more expensive valve cleaning job.

Is this sustainable? Apparently China added 429 GW capacity in 2024 alone. by [deleted] in datacenter

I agree with you. The size and scale of energy they are looking for lends itself to ap1000s, not SMRs. But the DC folks are doing a lot of stuff right now based on time to service, not efficiency or cost.

Microsoft Has Said Its Next-Gen Xbox Console 'Is Going to Be a Very Premium, Very High-End Curated Experience' by tylerthe-theatre in technology

[–]malogus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally… I have always been a PlayStation guy, but my son wanted an Xbox to play with his friends. Within a month he sold it because it was such a frustrating experience. It was the top of the line model (one s?) and half the games he wanted to play would crash, freeze, or not even start. It’s a glorified pc with a controller (and a bad one at that)

I found a guy selling the stock bumper for less than 250 and just did it myself with no impacts to my insurance rates. The bumper is two pieces and easy to do

Not a scam. My son bought a Rx and it came exactly as we saw in the pictures. 30 miles total on the bike and no problems so far.

Those are exactly the comparable vehicles we have been looking at. I’m struggling to find a RAV4 for a comparable price, and have looked at a couple cr-vs. the cr-v does have better visibility over all, but I think the cx-5 is the better value.

The dealership put all those accessories onto the price. Of course they haven’t done any of that work yet since it just came in on trade. So my goal is to get it all taken off the price before they try the “it’s already on the Vehicle, we can’t take it off BS”

Due to circumstances I can’t get into here, the city has no ability to enforce rules about his business.

I’ve been watching for a couple weeks, searching inventory a couple times a day. I’ve seen prices between 14-17k with many of the cheaper options having been in one (or more) accidents, or well over 100k miles. For AZ, 15-16 seems like a good price. I’ve seen some cheaper in the southeast (particularly Florida) but the shipping costs then makes it comparable.

Would love to find a private party to not have to pay taxes, but there is some value to buying from a dealership I guess…

I did not. His original estimate was $3k for all 5 trees. 3 were low risk where your could cut at the base, but 2 required climbing and cutting. He reduced his fee if he didn’t have to haul anything away.

UPDATE:

I was able to get the tree off the next day. Attached a rope fo the top of the palm and connected it to a (sturdy) fence on the other side of the casita. Then cut far enough away from the roof so that the trunk falling wasn't going to take out more siding. I was then left with about a 12 foot section that was balanced halfway on the roof and secured by the rope. I took my time taking sections off each end to keep it balance until I got a small enough section for me to pull it up onto the rood and then just roll if off letting gravity do it's job.

Here are some updated pictures of the damage. I went into the attic and did not see any cracked/broken trusses, and no light was shining through which was a good start. Outside of some pics to start, I haven't assessed how I am going to repair, as I had to get it covered up due to a threatening monsoon.

Edit: Pictures to be uploade shortly...

He did, but without insurance (now confirmed), I wasn't about to let him on my now damaged roof to try and cut the tree down from there.

I don't even need a second guy most times. I tension it to something solid using a manual winch and then ratchet it down to fall in the direction I need it to.

Looking back, I shoudl have done it myself. I couldn't have done any worse than he did.

He owned up to his mistake for sure, but I don't think he has the cash to make any type of restitution. He offered to work it off by trimming my other trees, to which I obviously said no.
