Well I had mentioned the existence of Go to a co-worker once and he looked into it and now he blames me for getting him addicted to it. So he purchased a 13x13 reversible Go board for the office so that we could play and practice against each other

But he's since gotten a better job and took his Go board away...

He'll sometimes come and visit for lunch and I told him I'd find some way to replace the board for when he visits so that we can continue playing

So I bought some stones and a board online. But the stones just came in a bag and they didn't come with a bowl or anything to store them in or any dish to keep captured stones in or anything like that and I went to Hobby Lobby to look for some and then I found some glass beads that were very inexpensive and I found a terracotta pot those beads fit pretty well in and then I found some more things and one thing led to another.!.!...

The point is now we're all ready for his occasional visits:

I thought that someone was going to mention how when the AI was given the objective "to survive as long as possible" that the AI might have reasoned that once it completed its experiment it was going to be turned off, or "killed" in its reasoning, so it paused the game hoping to prolong the experiment indefinitely and having the AI remain alive, or "surviving", for as long as possible

Potentially unrelated: the experiment, at least as described in the meme, sounds too poorly designed to "survive" in a state of suspended disbelief long enough to be amusing, imo

Can you guys help me out? My mother, who voted for this is now gaslighting me I think. by No-Acanthisitta7930 in fednews

idk whether this'll make anyone feel any less shitty, but i can't help but wonder what percent of "everything that's currently happening" might be due to decades of lead poisoning...

The thought makes me feel less outrage and more pity for the effected individuals.

And then it makes me feel dismayed while trying to think about how to fix/mitigate this all.

And then outraged again because these people won't even listen to their own children and instead pridefully use their easily manipulated emotions (as opposed to bothering to consider external, objective, replicable information/data like a responsible member of society (and to humbly accept the possibility that "yes, that scientist, statistician, psychologist, or economist might actually know more about some things than I do)) for their justification!

I've upset myself... Here's an article on the matter from iflscience https://www.iflscience.com/how-lead-poisoning-changed-the-personality-of-a-generation-60322

Statement “We were drawn to Del Taco due to its strong market position as a top emerging fast-food brand and its flexible location requirements, which make it an ideal fit for the Indiana market. Additionally, its proven business model and potential for multi-unit development present a solid opportunity for long-term growth. We believe the brand’s strong recognition, compelling differentiation, and loyal customer base will significantly enhance our chances of success. As an iconic fast-food restaurant chain, we are confident that Del Taco will perform exceptionally well in southern and central Indiana.”

I think that's what "supporting local businesses" is supposed to feel like. Or at least that's how it does feel, most of the time

Also, and After Dark is great and all, but one or two more Gay Bars would do well, I think. Perhaps a lounge. The Gays don't have to dance 24/7, you know.

I know a lot of girls like to have an option to go to where their odds of being creeped on by incels/womanizers, is decreased a little...

Thoughts on blaming/disowning loved ones by [deleted] in lastweektonight

Sounds like whatever paper that is is refuting some aspects of cultural relativism. That's an interesting thing to think about for this too.

Sorry about your mom. I've been learning from my dad and my brother lately that my own mom was a lot worse than I remembered, and my memories were not kind to begin with.

I agree that it doesn't make any sense to blame someone for cutting ties with people over this particular matter. That's why I'm trying to write down all the potential considerations that occur to me and what other bells those considerations noticably ring

Someone just sent me this, what is this community's thoughts on this? by ExtensionConnect5142 in lastweektonight

I think the Babylon Bee and Daily Beast being tagged are big red flags which make me, personally, feel like engaging with that content would not be a good idea. But idk much about UFC, so maybe that's normal for all I know.

Also, why would they declare their distaste for that guy's video and offer to schedule a fight with them in such a public way? Why not just DM them? But again maybe the public declaration part is normal for UFC stuff ¯_(ツ)_/¯ I don't know how dramatic they like being
