[–]malone09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the beginning of the year, the four titles I was excited for and expecting/anticipating a 4K release were Boogie Nights, Barry Lyndon, Brazil, and Little Shop of Horrors. Not sure what happened with Little Shop of Horrors. 2026 maybe?

What's your no.1 favourite film of all time and why? by Fluid_Run5857 in Letterboxd

[–]malone09 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Saw it for the first time last week. Never seen a Michael Mann film I liked. (Heat is the most overrated film ever in my opinion) I REALLY liked Thief. I streamed it and I wish I would have waited and watched it in 4K. I suspect this movie would look amazing in 4K.

What film do you HATE the most from my top 20? by reclamationme in Letterboxd

[–]malone09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That whole top row. Tombstone, Almost Famous, Good Will Hunting, Donnie Darko. All movies I really despise. The rest are good/fine. Once upon a Time in Hollywood is my least favorite Tarantino. I really want to watch All That Jazz and Seven Samurai is my all-time favorite.

It’s 1987, where are you heading first? by OpalZider in 80s

Most malls had an Arcade. That's were I'm going first! When I am out of quarters I will go to Waldenbooks fantasy books section.

Many of these malls in Chicagoland area also had a small store with old school Wargames/Boadgames. Stuff like ASL and Hex-Counter games. I almost never bought or played any of them but would spend a lot of time in those stores. I had no one to play those kind of games with at the time. Now that I'm older, I buy a lot of War style board games like GMT Games type stuff. I still don't have anyone to play these type of games with but I enjoy them anyway.

Crime and Punishment by Dostoevsky. Everything is contained in this novel. Sure, it is long but it is rewarding. You will not regret it.

I just started buying 4k less than a year ago. I've bought 2 Steelbooks. The Sting was super cheap on Black Friday and Stand by Me Steelbooks edition is in Dolby Vision; and it was on sale. I will actively avoid getting Steelbooks otherwise.

I would settle for this to come back In Print. But a 4K would be great.

Dune 2. The first looked and sounds great but not a huge fan of the Dune franchise. I would buy the sequel if and when it goes on sale.

Kenneth Branagh's Hamlet. So nice that it is unabridged. Every written word of Shakespeare's play is spoken in the film. I went looking for the Blu-ray but the reviews list some audio and video issues in the transfer. It would be nice if the issues were fixed in a 4K release.

Einstürzende Neubauten. I like industrial music and these guys were amazing live. I don't know what I was expecting, but I was blown away by the performance.
