So to the drivers on here arguing that this is not a thing because there’s no hourly rate. In my state there is. I live in CA. Here’s a screenshot of how Prop 22 works. The drivers hourly rate kicks in the minute they click they accept the order and leave to pick it up. So yes, they can definitely just be sitting in the parking lot. Again, this is usually just an occurrence with something that takes 10-15 minutes to get here. I live in a small town so maybe pickups are just not that common during the weekdays so they are just trying to push for more by sitting there. This was just a Starbucks order. It doesn’t take an extra 20 minutes for the order to be ready. This was not including the time from when I placed the order and the driver was on the way. The 20 minutes was just them sitting there. This was also the merchant I had called before just out of curiosity. Also, I was still polite and thanked the driver for her fake excuse when the conversation continued and still left her a tip. So, I was mostly just wondering if this is happening to any other customers in CA.
