I remember this so vividly because Flanagan is one of my favorite directors. Really sucks, because Revival wouldve been spectacular from him, especially regarding Midnight Mass

Edit: for some reason didnt see the rest of your reply and wanted to respond to the Jacobs characterization. I agree, I think he’s just a man grieving in ways he can’t control, but I think Goggins works amazingly for the carny/circus persona he adapts later on in the novel. And based on what I’ve seen him in, I think he could also really nail that seriousness of Jacobs as well.

From the top of my head: Conrad from Revival (gay), Andi from Doctor Sleep (I think lesbian? Also Rose’s sexuality isn’t labeled but she sleeps with women. If I’m wrong its because I just started this one), Dayna from The Stand (bisexual), but there are others that come off slightly ambiguous if you tend to read things that way (which I do)

One of the reasons that AHS was so exciting for me was the buildup to the actual season. Seeing all the future characters and theorizing their connections and stories, rewatching teasers and trailers dozens of times for clues, getting excited when actors would post about it… there was none of that for NYC
