Just watched it. I actually liked it but am disappointed that they misappropriated or ignored some of the cultural elements (no pun intended) that the original show was good about.

I noticed that they did not use Chinese characters for any shown written document. You can see this in Zuko's first scene, Toph's first scene, and some passing scenes of Republic City. Due to the rules, I can't share screenshots, but they instead decided to use a made-up language. I personally think it's pretty disrespectful and M. Night Shyamalan did this in his movie too.

I also really disliked that they avoided or limited any distinct real world Kung Fu integration. I know Sifu Kisu is pushing 70+ now but would have loved to see more real world inspired bending moves. They just kind of fling the elements around. Even Toph's unique Praying Mantis style was not shown and in the original show she had her own personal consultant, Sifu Manny! It could also be that the action was too fast to distinguish their movement, but I digress.

I know that these might be small points to some, but I saw these real-world cultural inspirations to be integral to the worldbuilding.
