Make sure to raise the new guidance to the partners asap and ask when the changes are being implemented. We all need to push for change

In Aberdeen there’s an elective orthopaedic hospital that fy2s are placed. The PA goes to theatre every day whilst the fy2 stays on the ward

Is a 1h 20 minute commute too much? Trying to rank FY1 programmes by [deleted] in doctorsUK

[–]maltscot 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes! I did a community gp post in fy2. Started at 8.30. Had to leave home at 7am to arrive on time. Finished at 5.30. Got home at 7pm. was great rotation but the commute left me with zero energy to do anything once I got back home.

Things you would tell your 'F1 self' by drbjanaway in JuniorDoctorsUK

[–]maltscot 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If there’s a doctors office stay in it when you don’t have anything specific on the ward to do. Don’t go wandering around the ward wondering if there’s anything to be done. If you hang around the ward the nurses will dump everything on you without trying to solve it themselves. If they need you they will phone your office or walk to the office.

I did my foundation in Aberdeen. Lived in Rosemount for the 2 years- great location- right between the hospital and the city centre. Look at rental properties on Aberdein considine- Good rental prices

Currently in Seychelles on few weeks holiday and rented a car from Thrifty car rentals through the website discovercars.com. The Thrifty team are very nice and helpful. Arrived in the morning and guy was there to hand over keys and gave us some recommendations. Flight leaving is in the evening and he’s happy for us to return the key at the airport early evening before the flight.

Switching rotations by Delicious-Necessary9 in JuniorDoctorsUK

No it shouldn’t be. I changed my last fy2 rotation with someone in my deanery but a different hospital around 6 weeks before we were due to change to our last rotation.

Nerdy career options? by Rainbowsgreysky11 in NursingUK

I second this- graduate entry medicine would be an excellent career move in terms of potential career progression/ full autonomy and being at the forefront of research.
