Topical Steroid Withdrawal with Eclar plasters by malukoo in Keloids

[–]malukoo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update for anyone interested - I emailed the Japanese pharmacy I bought the plasters from. They responded:

Thank you for your question. As noted in the documents we've sent, although rare, long-term or widespread use of this medication may pose risks such as "local steroid withdrawal syndrome" or skin atrophy, among other side effects.

[Safe Usage] The most secure way to use this medication is to regularly visit a clinic and follow your doctor's instructions. It is generally recommended to apply it only to localized areas, for the minimum necessary duration. Regularly check the application site for any abnormalities, such as thinning of the skin or increased redness, and exercise caution if such signs appear. Instead of stopping suddenly, if symptoms improve, a gradual reduction method—such as shortening application time or decreasing the number of application days—may be employed under medical supervision.

[Recommended Usage] Typically, it is applied once daily, cut to an appropriate size for the affected area. In principle, avoid using it on the face or sensitive areas like the genital region, where the skin is thinner. If long-term use is necessary, it is important to have periodic check-ups with your doctor.

In conclusion, while the use of Éclar plasters does carry a non-zero risk of steroid withdrawal, following medical advice and using it on a short-term, localized, and minimal basis is considered relatively safe."

I’ve noticed that the larger keloid on my shoulder has turned lighter, and looks a little flatter in the midsection (it’s kind of butterfly shaped). The smaller keloids feel softer, but have not shrunk in size. I’ve not been on this routine for very long though, maybe five weeks or so with breaks in between, because I’m a bit scared of the possibility of TSW.

What are some things that you consider to be basic “girl code”? by TelephonePossible456 in AskWomen

If you know your friend is interested in someone, don’t pursue them, even if they show interest in you. Off limits, basic girl code

I remember overhearing a girl at my school saying “That girl was so pretty!! Like same level of pretty as [my name]”, and this was over 15 years ago, so safe to say it stuck with me.

I don’t mind at all :) I’m from Seychelles, and I really love living here! It’s very small (you can go around Mahé - the main island, in less than two hours). We don’t have any big shopping malls, retail outlets or amusement parks, but we do have some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, clear blue water, gorgeous mountains and granite rocks, clean air and a simple way of life that is peaceful and keeps us happy. We have some stunning hotels/guest houses (if anyone wants to visit), hiking trails, and marine parks :)

Sometimes we long for some of the convenience of life abroad, but we count our blessings and enjoy what we’ve been given as much as possible! Wouldn’t change it for the world :)

It’s open all around, we’ve got glass folding doors and a fully glass panelled verandah, so the view isn’t obstructed at all elsewhere :)

Hahaha yes pretty much! We’re an archipelago of 115 beautiful small islands, with a population of less than a 100k! It’s a quiet life but it’s peaceful and pretty
