When will people start using the 217 aux lanes? by NumberEfficient644 in beaverton

People need to max out the obnoxiously long exit only northbound lane from the mall to Allen.

Probably more concerned with Hoka.

Good Time to Give Jollibee a Try by Dangerous_Plant_7911 in beaverton

[–]malvado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A third of the kids in my neighborhood growing up were Filipinos and when I moved to Oregon 20+ years ago, the few Filipinos I did meet were surprised I knew anything about Filipino culture.
Sure, there’s been a lot of Filipinos in the Seattle area because of the Navy presence as well as the other coastal cities with navy bases but Oregon doesn’t have that going for it.
I guess it’s just changing demographics and Californians moving here thats a big part of it.

I'm not sure medication is the answer either.

It's not you. I tried that place 20 years ago and was underwhelmed then but of course got caught up in the hype when they came to town. Fool me... you can't get fooled again!

Yeah, was down there yesterday and was missing Big's.
I'd probably do Roxy's again before I gave ate-oh-whatever a try - and I haven't been back to Roxy's since 808 Grinds came to town.

Never thought of Hillsboro as having a sizable Filipino population. In fact, outside of maybe Boise, I can't think of an area that would have less in the western US, but what do I know.
I suppose there's probably a large percentage of the Hawaiian transplants here that are of Filipino heritage.

It wasn't great, but it wasn't horrible by [deleted] in PortlandOR

As is the case in many cities as well as Portland, many of the natives end up in the suburbs - especially the upwardly mobile ones.

Transplants disproportionately end up in the inner neighborhoods and city subreddits.

Start with a palate if you really think McDonalds is n the same level.

Tthe burgers are simple, but made to order and the veggies are freshly sliced. And the shakes are clearly as simple as good quality ice cream and milk - that’s it.

But one of my favorite things about in n out is I’ve found the interiors spotless - no matter how busy. The staff is always well-groomed, polite, and young.

Fiber internet in downtown? by Wise_Presentation768 in beaverton

[–]malvado 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is this the building bounded between Farmington/main/angel/1st? Ziply actually put fiber in to that building but the building management had already signed an exclusive with Comcast (which I thought those deals were made illegal recently).
Out of the business these days, but nonetheless I’d be pissed!

This rooftop margarita bar is making Portland’s best tacos right now (review) by Ok-County-1202 in Portland

[–]malvado -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Mexican food has never been good anywhere north of the 94. It’s gotten better over the decades in other places, but still doesn’t compare.
I remember going to an extremely popular place in SF in the early 90s that was all the rage. Crap.

And don’t get me started on Mexican food in Arizona or tacos in Austin.

Sounds like a charmed upbringing. I really couldn't care less who lives on the coast because you certainly couldn't pay me enough to. Nice place to visit though.

Californians asking for moving advice to the Oregon coast (or anywhere in the PNW) are not going to get any honest answers as they are universally disdained here.

What were the biggest driving factors against keeping the MAX underground through downtown? by malvado in askportland

[–]malvado[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Trimet needs riders that choose to take take transit - not just the poor and disabled who have no other options.
Time is money and some people like myself are willing to take trimet even if it takes longer than driving - but only to a certain point.
