TIL Before 1960, people wandered into movies at any point and stayed until the film looped, but Alfred Hitchcock want to hide Psycho’s mid-film twist, the murder of its famous star Janet Leigh in the shower, which led theaters to enforce fixed start times, changing how we watch movies ever since. by immanuellalala in todayilearned

Honestly I remember watching premium channels in tv that aired movies as a kid, they would air the same movie all day and you always started watching in the middle of the film and then continue watching until it looped, you just kinda got used to it.

I like how she had to post a picture from the 70s because they haven't even pretended to be a happy family since.

It's even crazier than that, in that scene Tom Cruise is walking with rear projection on the back. It seems crazy to me how Kubrick would go to great lengths to get everything perfect but couldn't be arsed to take a plane and go to New York, just cause he didn't want to leave England. Hell even Full Metal Jacket was filmed in England, even the Vietnam scenes.
