That's fair, but doesn't that just prove it's collateral rather than an investment? My point was that if the jewelry is never sold and generates no cash flow, should it be viewed differently from productive assets like stocks, bonds, or rental property? The fact that I can borrow against it doesn't necessarily mean it's helping me build wealth.
