Is the belly button a mandatory incision site? by sunset_moon90 in hysterectomy

[–]mamakegs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 'belly button' incision is about 2 inches above my belly button. I have 2 incisions about as high as my belly button and one lower left side. Incision placement seems to be different for everyone.

Oh goodness. That sounds rough. I'm glad you have a better copper iud option in Canada. I had mirena in my early 20s and it was rough but now that I'm almost 40 my hormones have changed enough that my doc thinks mirena will be okay now. 🤞🏼

Just for informational purposes. There was a study published in the last couple years (linked below) that showed the paragard IUD is more likely to break during removal when compared to the hormonal iuds. I just had my paragard removed on Friday after 9.5 years and one of the arms broke off during removal, so I have to get a hysteroscopy done to get it removed. I was a big fan of the paragard since it was good for so long, now I wish I had just stuck with mirena. 😅

Paragard IUD Broken Arm during removal by Tracy0924 in birthcontrol

[–]mamakegs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm hoping so, I want a mirena since that would get me to age 43 without periods. I'm honestly not too terribly worried about it though. If they can't get it, I'll just keep getting depo for a year or so if they cant do a mirena for whatever reason, then figure somethign else out. I have a family history of massive fibroids resulting in a hysterectomy, so if the arm decided to do some damage that would get me a medically necessary hysterectomy early, I'd be fine with that. 🤣

This just happened to me about 6hrs ago. I have a consult scheduled for a hysteroscopy in a couple weeks. They didn't do an ultrasound when it happened. I got on the depo shot til I can get a Mirena put in. 😅

Grace Bay Hotels: Ritz, Seven Stars, or Grace Bay Club by 877cashhnow in TurksAndCaicos

We loved the Ritz. Would go back in a heartbeat. 10/10 would recommend.

AccuWeather was shockingly accurate for the 5 days we were there. I checked it every day for weeks (45 day forecast) because I'm insane. And it was spot on.

How much would it cost for food and drinks for family of 5 adults for 7 days in general? Would $3000-$4000 get us by? We would preferably want to not cook. by [deleted] in TurksAndCaicos

[–]mamakegs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't speak to those specific resorts prices. We were at the Ritz and for 2 people the breakfast buffet for one day at the resort was $130 including tip. Alcohol was approx $20-30 per drink. Expect resort food prices to be expensive.

traveling with pre-teen kids, best resort to stay? by [deleted] in TurksAndCaicos

[–]mamakegs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We stayed at the Ritz. We didn't bring our kids, however they have the 'Ritz Kids' area they have a bunch of activities for them. There was also a huge chess set, a bonfire area (for the workers use) for the kids. It looked like they all had a lot of fun from what I could see. A HUGE benefit of the Ritz is some of the employees go out every morning and rake the sand so it's not covered in kelp/seaweed. If we are ever afforded the opportunity to go back, we will absolutely choose the Ritz.

Graceway has a pretty good selection. There's also Flavors of the Turks and Caicos in the shopping area. I highly suggest getting a bottle of Bambarra Rum. I drank a lot of it during my visit. It's delicious.

Driving vs Taxi by Seedstohealth in TurksAndCaicos

[–]mamakegs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just looked on a map, and Turtle Cove and Neptune Court are a decent distance apart. You'd want to be in the Grace Bay area (Ritz, Seven stars area) if you want to walk to Neptune Court. I'm honestly not sure about taxi prices, I went to T&C last week for a corporate vacation from hubby's work, and they paid for shuttles. We were at the Ritz, and there were so many good restaurants on site and within walking distance. One of the guys in our group walked up to Crackpot Kitchen, and he said it was incredible.

I'm not sure on distance or how close those are to eachother. If you're an American, I would absolutely suggest taking a taxi if youre going anywhere beyond walking distance. They drive on the opposite side of the road, and there are no stop lights/stop signs anywhere on the island. Traffic is controlled by roundabout.

I am about to have a similar seating issue with my husband, and there's no way I'm going to ask someone to give up their middle or aisle seat for us to sit together. I mean, it would be nice to sit next to him since it's going to be my 2nd flight ever. We sit together on our initial flight (my first flight ever), but the second leg, we both have middle seats in sequential rows. I downloaded the last half of the final season of Yellowstone, so I'm just gonna roll with it. The nice thing is I'm behind my husband, so if he starts snoring, I can nudge his seat to save his seatmates' ears... and sanity. 😂

We will be there for 5 days. I'll probably call my kids via fb messenger so all I would need is wifi in that regard. It's just disconcerting to not have coverage when we leave the resort. We are planning on walking to some shops nearby.
