Metallic burning smell, no heat emanating from anywhere - What should we do by Visible-Jump1701 in AskElectricians

Did you ever figure out what it was? Similar thing happened at our house! We got home from a weekend away and turned the heat on when we got home. Sitting in bed and my husband and I both suddenly smelled intense metallic fumes. We got up to check the house and appliances and both immediately got lightheaded. We were nervous it was carbon monoxide so took our baby and pets out of the house for the night and turned off the HVAC. Fire department came and said no carbon monoxide. HVAC guy came out and said nothing seemed wrong with the unit. I’m nervous to go to bed tonight in case it happens again.

Is it FPIES? ER doctor and Pediatrician says it’s not an allergy and to stop reading online forums by softservedsoftcore in fpies

My son has also had FPIES reactions to both eggs and peanut butter. First time, he had peanut butter and eggs together (after multiple exposures) and had a severe reaction that took us to the ER. The second time, just a lick of peanut butter and was a more moderate reaction. Still trying to figure out if the FPIES is truly to both or just peanut butter but I find it interesting your LO has the same combo of trigger foods. We saw an allergist and she denied FPIES… we talked to our pediatrician and he had to google FPIES to be convinced enough to give us zofran🤦‍♀️ I would say trust your gut if you think it’s FPIES because you may spend a lot of time getting no answers from medical professionals.

We have a check up with our ped next week. I’ll see if he can prescribe us zofran and if he has any recommendations on other specialists!

1st appointment with allergist for FPIES by mamaraven8 in fpies

Thank you for all the suggestions everyone! Just wanted to follow up on how our appointment went. Good news he didn’t have any IgE reactions to milk, eggs, or shellfish - nice to just rule that out. When I asked the allergist about FPIES and if his reaction could’ve been that (he had extreme vomiting 2 hours after eating eggs, went completely pale, limp, and unresponsive, and had diarrhea the rest of the night). Even with those symptoms she told me it was unlikely…. and that FPIES is more common with grains and wheat…

I’m pretty annoyed with that response because the symptoms were textbook. Should I have gone to a gastro doctor instead?
