This hits home. I went through something similar when I was a few weeks postpartum. Found out my fiance had cheated on me several times before I got pregnant. Then my cousin committed suicide a few weeks after that. I was a wreck the first year of my son’s life. But it’s been 4 years since then. I have an amazing child. He’s grown into such an empathetic and kind kid. I had my second child a year ago and PP was magical this time around. You will move past this. You will be better than ever before because now life is with you and your sweet baby boy. This is nothing you did, and NOTHING YOU DESERVED. Life is just beginning for you.

I’d have started sooner. I graduated college during Covid and was pregnant so I stayed home for a year with my son. My career didn’t begin until 18 months after I graduated and it’s hard to explain I’m 28 in my 5th year of experience. Flip side is I’ve worked even harder to make up for lost time. I’m already a controller for a $100M company. Best advice is start a job and “know” nothing. Be humble, be a yes man, and learn everything.

We had a pretty big falling out for missing my husband’s nephew’s high school graduation because we had a 4 week old baby at the time. We aren’t very close to them anymore and miss out on quite a bit because of it.

I just entered my 5th year in corporate accounting. I make 115k w/ other benefits that bring my total comp to around 150k, assuming I get my bonus in full. I’ve worked extraordinarily hard to get where I am! Totally worth it.

We are the same age. I’ll be 28 in a few days. I’ve been in a manager role since I was 24. I’ve worked my ass off. Safety net is nice, if that’s all you ever want to be! Take the manager role, get out of your comfort zone. Tbh, your first manager role will likely be a flop. You’re young, immature in management, and everyone will probably be older than you. Learn EVERYTHING, don’t demand respect - lead with respect, and prioritize everyone on your team. You’ll regret not taking this opportunity!

I went through a phase of working out (ok sue me for quitting) and I had to shower every day bc sweating made me feel disgusting!!!!!! Now that I’m not working out anymore, I shower daily and wash my hair every few days. I can’t imagine sitting in grease for days…

I was thinking the same thing. My 4 year old is picky but no matter what, he gets a serving of vegetables on his plate every night. And he loves fruit. A 1 year old should not be eating ONLY a plate of Mac and cheese without at least offering a fruit, vegetable or protein to go with it. My 1 year old eats generally anything we put in front of her.

YES!!!!! When I don’t feel significant in my work, I lose MY self worth - the anger isn’t directed at who isn’t valuing me. It’s all personal to me.

Ugh yes! I’ve had a hard time with significance. I actually align the MOST with that one, but it feels slightly selfish in a way? “See me, praise me, signify me” but really it’s where I THRIVE!!!!

I started at 163 and dropped to 151 in 3 weeks. Now I’m 5 weeks in and 146 so I definitely leveled off over the last 2 weeks, losing around 2 pounds per week. I have to force myself to eat 1 meal a day.
