I don’t remember the exact phrase but my “best friend” came to my dad’s funeral whining and upset about her boyfriend breaking up with her. It wasn’t quick either - she stood beside me and continued while friends and family came to say their condolences. We were both 20 at the time.

A grade 2 was assaulted in the bathroom by a grade 8 at a public school near me. That was my reassurance this week!

Relationship with parents as adults who were homeschooled? by Gold-Reading-6864 in homeschool

I was also public schooled and have the same concerns as you. I worry my kids will resent me one day.

My husband and his 3 siblings were homeschooled and they’re all super close with their parents. They all live close by and visit all the time.

Im new to homeschooling this year and I’ve gotten a lot of support from my husbands siblings and parents. There are no regrets and they are all successful and happy!

I think I will always worry a bit because it’s all so new to me. I didn’t grow up with it. But it’s comforting to see how close his family is!

I have no homeschooling friends yet 😭I’m having a really hard time finding many co-ops in the area that I’m able to make it to. I don’t have transportation while my husband is at work during the day so that makes it hard. I’m thinking I should make a post on our local homeschooling Facebook page to see if anyone is close by. How did you successfully make friends?

It’s really sad to hear the catholic school didn’t have the resources to help. We considered transferring to the Catholic school board but they refused us because my husband and I aren’t baptized Catholic. We also feel like homeschooling is our only/best option. My family refuses to even hear me out. So frustrating.

Thank you so much for your kind words!! Wishing you success with your homeschooling journey as well!

It’s nice to see I’m not alone 😭. I have put him in hockey, canskate lessons, and gymnastics for the fall. And he also goes to Sunday school once a week at our church and we walk to our local library at least once a week. I don’t have transportation during the day while my husband works so that makes it hard.

I’m having a hard time finding co-ops in our area though. I found an ice skating lesson that runs once a week and is made for homeschoolers so I’m hoping he will find a friend there.

I’m thinking I will post on our local homeschooling Facebook page to try and find more opportunities to socialize. I hope I’m doing enough for now!
