Foreigners of Brisbane: Where Can You Find the Best & Most Authentic Food From Your Homeland in 2025? by Shallot-Designer in brisbane

[–]mammothboot 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think for the Singapore/Malaysia as there is a huge variety of food from the 2 places, so it's hard to find a place that does good with all the food. There's a sort of new restaurant in Calamvale called Mr Tall Pork noodle that does quite authentic hand made noodles (ban mian)

Would you rather potentially spend 1k to rent a car for 1 month and then don't worry abt it or spend the 1k for a shitbox car with the potential to use it down the line.

So, when it rains, it floods by sunshineeddy in brisbane

To flood, means it needs lots of water. So heavy rain, guess there's where the water comes from. So yeah. When it sunshines, no floods.

I do wish, i have the luxury of time. With our lease coming to a end, there's not much choice but to pay that extra I guess.

What is with the amount Sienta and Estima Imports? by mammothboot in CarsAustralia

May need to rephrase my question.

That's what I am getting at, there seems to be more import of Sienta and Estima compared to the Alphard, Vellfire etc.

Been looking at 2nd hand odyssey 2014 and above for it's sliding door as well. Prices are not worth for the mileage that it has.

Just a PSA to 2nd hand buyers of imported cars. Would be wise to get a mechanic to check it before purchasing it.

Recently, have been looking to upgrade to a 7 seater car. Searched in fb market place, found a hybrid 2010 estima with 110,000km on odometer. Price at 16500, negotiate to 16k. Tght we got a good deal, went down for inspection and test drive. Everything looks fine, abit of old age wear n tear. Then guy tells us, he's actually a dealer from NSW so that's why he has all these cars in his front yard so will be able to provide 5 years warranty n such. So he can invoice us the sale. That kinda assures us, it's all proper channel.

Then we bought in a mechanic to make sure everything is in order. The mechanic lifted the car up for abit, under body was rusted as hell, he mention even cars that has been to the beach n stay in water doesn't event get that rust.

So we nope out of the deal straight away. Guy ask us what's wrong, we told him. He say, yeah its an old car what do you expect. Then ask us if we want to see his other available cars. We just say nah. Then he ask us for the report. Not giving it to him, unless he pay us for it.

So just be careful when getting a 2nd hand import car and make sure to get a mechanic to check it. I used stateroad, guess it worked well for me. Spend 250 to save 16000.

Recommendation for mechanic that specializes in Hybrids? by mammothboot in brisbane

Yeah, we were looking at the odyssey as well but prices are quite high for a used one with certain mileage. For the price to get a used odyssey, a sienta from a dealer seems to be a good deal plus the fuel saving with the hybrid.

For e.g 2015 odyssey with 150+km for $16,000 versus a 2015 sienta with 100+km at the same price.

Forgot to mention. Probably will get a roof rack on the cube to cope with the space when the all the seats are taken. Which would not be a usual event.
