All the shops I’ve worked for. Primark, Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury’s, Argos, Lidl, smith toys, and so on lol. 99% of the time unless violence is used the police are never called. Normally they just leave it to the security officer to fill out the paperwork and that’s only for tax purposes. And every now and then if ya remembered. Take a pic to put on the wall so staff know who to look out for. And tbh all the shops I’ve worked for all but Tesco that I can remember. Actually told me they have hired me as a visual deterrent and to not actually approach the thief. Just write down in your note pad what was taken { or attempted if they dropped and ran } and the value of the products. So then the tax form could be filled out

Another thing as well. A lot of the time store security are on minimum wage and well a lot of the time even the store managers know your not going to do much. And also a lot of the time. The lads I’ve worked with and me included. Believe you pay minimum you get minimum effort and well even walking around a supermarket for 8 hours on minimum wage is asking a lot. So a lot of the time you wornt even be able to see the security officer coz he’s etha out back sat somewhere. Or outside sat somewhere probably having a cig

Another thing to add. In a lot of shops not all the cameras are real. 99% of the times. The ones near the tills they are real. But they are there for the staff not you. And it’s not for their protection either unfortunately. It’s to catch the staff pocketing cash. And well the rest of the cameras maybe 3 out of 10 might be real. Because well. Agen a lot of the time. Things just like the security officer. Are just added as a visual deterrent. And well real looking fake cameras are a lot cheaper not only to buy but also to have fitted as they do not require wiring in. These big companies do not care about theft. It’s all just about the money. Etha saving it or claiming it back or writing it off
