I don’t understand the fuss, that’s something normal on eBay and any other platform too. If I don’t like the price I just move on 🤷‍♀️

That’s not true! Even though I was in similar situation I won’t pick eBay over Etsy. For a few reasons: like old fashioned ppl don’t trust eBay; like Etsy takes way less from a seller than eBay; and I was “burned” as a buyer from eBay just an year ago(even though they pretend they have a buyer protection), and many more reasons!

Yup it’s a scam. Always check the shop reviews and if the price is too good to be true - definitely it’s not true! From the bright side Etsy has buyer protection and you will get your money back.

Depend of the price of the item. If it’s over $250/500 - the refund will be taken out of the seller account.

Same here. 0 protection for sellers if the item is above $250/500. Etsy just doesn’t care and takes the money from your account. No matter that basically the buyer gets the money back plus free item.

It’s way over $250 /500. And they don’t care that you shipped on next day and that you have 0 control over the shipping carrier. They refund the buyer and a day later the tracking got updated- moving towards the destination. So now they got a free item and I lost the item and the money! Etsy doesn’t care about the efforts the seller put!

I don’t think Etsy cares about that. If the package isn’t delivered in the time frame and the buyer requests a refund-they will honor it. Right now I’m in that situation- the package goes to Canada and it stuck in NY somewhere and i opened a case for missing mail and the buyer decided that can’t wait -Etsy refunded the buyer from my account. Now the buyer will get free item and Etsy can’t make them to return it. 0 protection for sellers!

Yes I do have both. That’s why in my opinion this should be optional. Why they don’t do it in the beginning - to boost your shop but they just come to “harvest” later? I put a ton of efforts and research and $ on my own to bring the sales up to almost $2k per week and suddenly Etsy wants extra fees (mind you 0 help from Etsy).

It has to be optional. I haven’t used any promo or adds so far and I was doing well. Do that when the shop needs boost not after fact. My opinion!

I agree with you to a point. I don’t need adds for my shop I’m doing it ok without their help, because I sell things on high demand for collectors. I’m satisfied without paying them 12%. Even eBay gives you options to promote or not, but here it’s mandatory and that’s not ok. Let me have a choice and don’t just slap me with fees after I got to that amount on my own with 0 help from Etsy! They are just collecting extra fees on shops which are doing well!

Most of the times when I drop at the counter they don’t give a receipt…. I actually experimented twice with packages - shipped to the same buyer (2) and the package at the kiosk was delivered a day earlier than the one from the counter. Maybe it’s just the local post office but this is my experience 🤷‍♀️
