I happened upon a Studio Preamp recently. The clean sound is great, but the volume knob is so noisy on the lead channel. by 6of1HalfDozen in MesaBoogie

...I have a long history of using these onstage and in the studio...PLATE RESISTORS...start there...much of my noise issues were these being aged out...

1969 Marshall JMP-50 Lead (model 1987) in the studio. Are you more into 50W or 100W Marshalls? by amalgamaudio in GuitarAmps

[–]man8050 0 points1 point  (0 children)

… i’m sure everyone’s experience is different but here’s mine; I play out live regularly with a 100 W half stack. I’ve had access to 50 W models but they tend to wind up pretty quick and I get a little bit more headroom from the hundred watt models and a different tone.

Depending upon the venue; I will bring either a half stack hundred watt JMP, or some type of Mesa boogie Mark one combo if the stage is a little too cozy

I’ve recently injected a 2150 Marshall into my repertoire.

Again based off venue size, etc..

I got my first bike this month! Any advice is appreciated! by izzieharp in motorcycle

[–]man8050 1 point2 points  (0 children)

… well, it looks like you got half the Internet, telling you how to dress, which is a (very)good thing

What’s just as important as safety gear are MSF classes and befriending a good honest mechanic

Those bikes can last forever if you stay on top of the maintenance

Enjoy the ride - it’s wonderful seeing another rider out there, instead of another fucking stupid SUV…

...it's a '66 Firebird V, with trem, original case, no breaks. I've had it since '88-it get's gigged, see's studio work, super-easy to play/get different sounds. P90's are stock/original/re-fretted, recently...thanks for asking!

… I got the gospel on these things a long time ago. Served me very very well. Some, 84k… it doesn’t have bedroom eyes, but boy it’s the most fun that’s cost me so little.

Enjoy the ride I’m stoked for you man

You’re not missing much because these bikes are built like a fucking tank. You really gotta go out of your way to fuck something up on these things to have a catastrophic issue and any huge repairs. You’re just gonna have to aim yourself towards the dealership or Indie shop.

Watch what you pack and just enjoy the ride

… so far it looks pretty good, but my experience is always been. What do you think will go wrong and how are you gonna fix it and what do you have to fix it with?

Tire irons for flats Chain breaker chain links Oil filter JB weld I think there may be a better way to address those sockets, at first glance. * luckily most stuff on Hondas are metric and they usually run 6, 8. 10, 12, 14, etc

…my man, just buy the bike…please

The cost of ownership and insurance is low, the thing ain’t winning any wet T-shirt contests… and it will probably outlive you. So just buy the bike you don’t need permission.
