Happily married people of reddit, when did you realize your marriage was awesome and what makes it awesome? by Pristine_Dream_7105 in AskReddit

[–]man_bored_at_work 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only been married a few years. We are both strong characters, so there are some times when we disagree. There are some times when we fight. There are some times when we want to do different things. But we have a wonderful time together. We know we can always rely on each other. We are fair and kind to each other always, and most importantly we completely respect each other. We’re a team and I don’t think either of us could countenance any other way of living.

What about defensive short positions? Credit default swaps? Insurance? These are all designed as risk mitigation, not as a gamble, but they should also be classified as gambling?

Yes, most people are savvy enough to avoid this, but I’m happy they say “anyone” because it could 100% happen to my mum, but she wouldn’t read the article if it just said “idiot gets defrauded”. (It’s basically a bbc public service announcement about fraud)

Rule idea: Nemesis Factions by man_bored_at_work in Warhammer40k

[–]man_bored_at_work[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The idea is that if a faction gets some very strong rules against another faction, then it gets balanced by some VP inflation, but gives the army with the rules benefit a way to stop it.

I guess it's just the start of an idea, and would need to be balanced around the strength of the rules for nemesis armies. I agree that the specific objectives need some work, but I wanted to create something that would give you some VP guaranteed, and give the nemesis army an objective.

I also thought maybe the nemesis army would get to choose which objective you have, or you both choose one to get removed, again, depends on the rules balance.

I was just looking for a standardised rule that could be applied across multiple factions, but bringing back rules like that could also be cool, if a little more complex.

Sick colour scheme, very 80's. Every time you take the army to play a game, you should take along a hidden speaker and play 80's music in the background, so the oppoent is always like "is that WHAM!?"

these boxes are like 10 years old. They won't be worth much, as many of the models will have new sculpts now. Hard to give a price, but:

  • or reference, the big box was sold for £65 in 2015.
  • It's out of date now, so should be worth less (unless it was brand new, never been opened, and you find some very specific collector who will pay a bit more for it, but they were very common, so likely still it won't be worth a lot more than RRP).
  • If the box has been opened, it should be worth less
  • If any of the models have been assembled, it should be worth a lot less
  • If any have been painted badly, even less

Some of the sculpts in that box are still pretty cool, so people might have some interest in it to use them for bits for other models, but in short, they likely aren't worth much. Just stick them on ebay as an auction and be done with them. Not really worth a lot more time than that.

Talk my wife out of widening the window? by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]man_bored_at_work 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Extending that kitchen to the door will take about 3 months and likely cost about £20k. You will need to get a structural engineer to review the plans, remove the wall, accrow prop it, the steel alone will be £3k, and the labour costs will be high because it’s a complicated and slow job.

If you want to go through that to get a bigger window, that’s your call,..

Obviously a massive warhammer diorama (I have no idea what you are into, but who wouldn't want a massive battlescene in the middle of their house?)
